No, not vanished, varnished :)

 

Two coats of fresh PP satin varnish applied by 6 quid eBay airbrush, used just under half a tinlet, so the thinned varnish went back in the tin for next time ;)

Will let it harden off overnight then commence assembly. After that it's coal, weathering (light!) then glazing and crew. Decoder will be a TCS-DP2X

Looking absolutely Ready to Run.

 

That sort of self applied paint finish is the consistency I dream of being to do with my models.

Probably the camera angle, they match up to the Golden Arrow ones, although a bit of jiggery pokery was needed to modify the Brit ones I used to fit as the Duke running plate slope section is further forward

bit of an update, the TCS DP2X-UK decoder didn't give very good performance with this chassis, the BEMF didn't seem to handle speed steps 3 and 4 and as they are auto-tuning ....

 

So the Hornby R8215 will go back in, works flawlessly, well, until a short resets it :lol:
