Hello Everyone,

heres one model that i have slowly been building over the last few months.

Im not going to deny it has been built from one of my own kits.

The prototype for the kit in the first place was choosen based on its long career and wide spread useage, nothing to do with personal interests at the time.

During research i found one of these, "Morous" ran just down the road from me on the Shropshire and montgomeryshire railway which actually got me interested in researching the railway and even more so that i've actually served these villages on the route myself through work and one of my colleagues ancesters so to speak worked on the railway as he saw me drawing the instructions at work along with the books around me!

Anyway, so i've decided to go out of usual modelling period and areas and model a Colonel Stephens light railway as these would make a change for me and to provide me a challenge or as you will read, a headache in some areas!

The model of Morous was built as close as possible to when it ran on the railway.

The livery has caused major headaches, Midland Railway red certainly seemed to be the correct colour.

However, its the smaller details that are the problems, should the splashers be red or black?

The bufferbeams, normally they would be like a signal red but according to a painting/print that ive seen its the same red as the loco?

Heres some photos before lining in yellow/black/yellow and hopefully soon, some S&M logos to go in the centre of the tank.

Thankyou Frank, i must admit even im impressed myself, will look better when fully lined and named.

The kits is etched nickel silver with whitemetal fittings and some items like the safety valve covers are done in lost wax brass.

Nice work Robert.

Now lets see some shots of it with the 'lid' off so we can see the chassis, motor, gearbox etc.

I'm not sure when I'll be starting mine, but it will be finished as a contractors engine.

Paul.
