Hello,

Progress has been slow, a bit like the pace of life in general this week, but I thought i'd talk to you about latest happenings on the F&CR...

The narrow gauge trench has finally been dug out using an electric drill and chisel meaning the narrow gauge track has been cut to length. The NG bridge is also being installed and i'm hoping I can get the NG track laid down today. I don't have any fishplates for the NG track though unless I can find some in the house (as you do!).

Today so far has seen the lighting pelmet and fascia given two coats of black matt poster paint to smarten it up a little.

I'm suprised by just how much it makes the layout look better! That and the lighting.

Now, talking about lighting, I am still using the original fluorescent light but both the engine shed and castle are in a bit of a dark spot so I may need to source alternative spot lights (Suggestions please) Bear in mind half the castle is outside the fascia...

Speak later B)

IKEA (and probably others) sell compact fluorescent spotlamps with a clamp fitting (well, 6 months ago they did) very cheaply. These -or similar- would presumably match the colour of the main fluorescent tube's light, and could be angled to suit. I've a couple here awaiting a use.

The layout looks very neatly turned out in that pic.

Thanks for that Jamie, that's useful to know. I'll have a search around a couple DIY stores.

Thanks for the compliment too. The writing has been put on there artificially but the rest is 'as is'.

Just an update, the narrow gauge track has now been laid :D
