ï»¿ 43216 shunts a grain wagon with a hot box into the siding at Catcott, September 1959. When backing up files yesterday I picked out the photo of the culvert being tried out for size on the layout back in December 2007, it reminding me of many of the lightweight materials used for the scenic base with much of the cardboard here being from a huge flatscreen TV at the workplace. Car Train

As an alternative to a long wait for the Aust Car Ferry or a long drive via Gloucester, the 4.40pm Severn Tunnel Junction to Pilning car train is captured speeding up the 1/100 grade towards its destination on a dull summer day in 1958. Web free for 24 hours!

Scammell Tri-van

Summer of '69

Now that's clever..

Grain Wagon

Duffers day out!

Yesterday a few of us nutcases met up for a jolly tracking down full sized trains with cameras in the north Oxfordshire/Warwickshire area. Without rambling on too much about what a nice day we had hanging about on station platforms and railway bridges - here are the results. Oh yes, and we also bumped into fellow blogger Phil Parker. Brew-up at BQ!

Austerity

A freshly detailed and repainted Hornby J94 Austerity shunts on Brewhouse Quay - click to enlarge to 1280 pixels across. Work so far has been as follows, a nice way to soak up the sunny garden at the same time and you don't have to worry about vacuuming up the bits! Remove the silly clumsy moulded handrail loop midway along the base of the boiler. Fill small cutaway below the above. Replace the moulded smokebox door handles with brass. Countdown to the Weekend

Summer Saturday Over Mendip!

Shunting at the 'Burtle

SDJR 7F 2-8-0 No. 53809 is captured on a stinking hot day in the summer of 1961 shunting at Catcott Burtle.The loco is of course the new Bachmann SDJR 7F and is seen here after stage one of a little weathering. In due course I'll add some more colour washes, lamps and a crew. Chuff chuff buffs from Tonbridge Wells will notice that the tablet catcher is now in the retracted position too. Trams and Beer
