Barrow Hill Mark II - The Roof - stage 2

PaternosterRow

The roof panels are now complete. A couple of pics to show different light levels achieved by altering the camera settings.

A first shot showing the Stygian gloom on an ordinary indoor setting (candlelight).

The next shot on a sensitive setting at a longer exposure. Quality is compromised on this type of setting.

I'm not entirely happy with some of the openings - they are not all flat, but this is because of the thinness of the card used. However, what can you expect when there are 152 of them!

Next - the lights. I bought some ready made pendant lights from Express Models (very prompt service - I got the package only 2 days after ordering). 8 of these will hopefully bring up the interior light levels for some good shots of the locos.

Comments most welcome.

Wow.. I wonder if for photos you could use dry ice for a smoky, steamy effect?

Really enjoying watching this one develop!

Lovely stuff Mike.

I kinda like both photos...the first having an eery feeling of unused and awaiting demolition...with the second really demonstrating the level of detail you have achieved.

Next one with some locos?...

The first picture I could swear was the prototype!

It wasn't until I read the text that I realised it was your model!

Good stuff,

Cheers!

That is VERY impressive! The whole thing just oozes atmosphere.

There are some little layouts appearing which are truly brilliant, just like this one. Who needs a whopping great layout these days! I like Wills idea of some kind of smoke effect too, I can imagine the haze inside that shed with sunlight streaming through the skylights.

Gosh - thank you all for the comments. Getting great comments from modelers of a really high standard is very inspiring. I came back to this marvelous hobby of ours only three years ago - after a gap of nearly 35 years - and never really expected to get drawn into it at this level. It really is an absorbing past time and is made even more so having the support from other members here at RMweb.

I will indeed try to get some smoky shots - don't know much about dry ice, but I will try the old cigar smoke trick! The first of the lights are now going in and so hope to get them up and running by the weekend. More shots then.

Thanks all again.

Regards

Mike
