  1. I know someone who's already built one in N set in the 1950s. It looks great.
  2. I’ve had good fun tonight trawling the internet for off area Scotrail coaches. I’ve found plenty of MK2s (both aircon and early PV) down in the West Country but it has to be this photo from Andy Bright of 47617 University of Stirling which appears to have taken a Scotrail MK3 for a day out down south as it heads back north at Stoke Gifford 30/08/86. Permission by Andy for his photo to be used. So I know they escaped south of the border, just need to find a photo of one on the southern section of the ECML now.
  3. The 80s is now a long time ago and my memory of that time is getting hazier. However, I’m sure that I can remember seeing a 47 hauled train going south on the ECML at Hitchin that had a random selection of Scotrail liveried MK3s along with a motley selection of blue grey MK2/3s. Can anyone remember the Scotrail MK3s occasionally coming south of the border? I assume this was when they were short of stock.
  4. Thanks, I remember the BP tanks. I still can’t find any photos of a real life stromeyer tank so I guess that they might only exist in model form.
  5. All, In N gauge I’m trying to recreate some of the train ferry speedlink consists from my youth. I’ve recently been offered some Fleischmann BP Stromeyer wagons and I’m sure I can remember these wagons occasionally making it into UK consists. There doesn’t seem to be any photos of Stromeyer wagons on the internet. Did they actually exist in real life please?
  6. Thank you! Google seems to have lots of photos of everything but BASF.
  7. Can anybody remember any BASF branded wagons working in the UK during the 80s please? I’m convinced that I saw some in a Speedlink consist at March, but as that was over 30 years ago my memory may be playing up. Thanks.
  8. Class 86s were quite rare on the Royston branch, although I did see several of them on diverted Lynn trains at Meldreth.
  9. Dave, I'd happily pay you good money to make some of these signals for me. They look great!
  10. Several times in the late 80’s I saw class 86’s working through Meldreth on the Hitchin to Cambridge section with diverted trains from the G.E. There was also a railtour during that period too. Does anyone have any photos of the 86s on this section of line please?
  11. March to Spalding "Joint line 92" video uploaded to youtube. This video was made in 1992 by the late Derek Haynes of March. As Derek has since passed away and Nene Video productions no longer exist, I'm sure that he would be very pleased to have this video uploaded to the internet so people can still watch it. This is a tribute to him, the line itself (how useful would it be now?) and the men who worked it. The video isn't great quality but its of it's time and I think that the subject matter more than makes up for this. P.S. Look out for the ghost at Holbeach Drove level crossing. You need to look at the bottom of the screen under the crossing house sign. You must make your own mind up and may not believe in these things but I witnessed first hand the alarm, upset and ill feeling it caused for some level headed old railwayman who first viewed the footage in 1992. They all recognised the figure who apparently used to be a crossing keeper and got killed by a train there in the late 1950s! No one saw anything on the day of filming, it was only afterwards that it was noticed. The BBC were interested in the footage at the time too.
  12. Here is a random selection of days from my 1978 train register which came from French Drove signal box and is an accurate record of events and what trains and services were actually running. The night shifts were still steady with freight! What an absolute waste of a valuable line. Hope people find it of interest.
