Hi mate, when they were advertising the 71 and progress their scanning guy showed a link or uploaded a video of the scanning taking place at Barrow Hill. i think it was on their 'engine shed' thingy too. should be on here under the Hornby section along, if my old memory is serving me correctly, the King scanning. No doubt that both were laser scanned, and i knew the 87 wasnt scanned at Crewe.

Hi Chris, all orders, private info, emails and spread sheet have been deleted from my system, except 1 last draft e-mail to all 'expressions of interest' customers for the king. once sent, that mail will also be deleted from my sent box, and my King expressions of interest master folder will also be purged. I'll then re-start it with new info from today onwards up to project completion. HTH Cheers Dave

Hi everyone, i'm delighted to say that the new web site with e-commerce integrated is now up and running for those that need to register their interest in the N gauge APT project. You will need to put your details in, and choose which model / models you require, but you will not be charged for doing so as this is merely a numbers game at the minute to see if this cheaper alternate model is viable. The site is SSL compliant. Please note that the system sends both you and i receipts for your 'expression of interest' so please bear in mind your order may reach your spam folder and to check it occasionally. Also please note that the original list of N gauge 'expressions of interest' for the higher prices versions is now deleted, as are your details if you did express an interest. also i would request that all customer who have written to me expressing an interest this last 2 weeks, now do this again via the web site so we both have a paper trail of your interest. Hi everyone, i'm delighted to say that the web site is now up and running. Orders for the OO gauge APT, N gauge APT (expression of interest) King and Class 92's are there for customers to order. It is SSL certificated and the payment option to start with is Stripe, and is secure, however the site will also feature Lloyds click safe in a few weeks as this takes a little time for Lloyds to review the site, check it, issue the link software, and integrate it, plus checks. You will then have a choice of how you pay if you want it? Pages are still missing detail and pictures and i will be filling these in over the coming weeks. E-mails will start going to all customers / expressions of interest etc today, notifying them of the situation and the new web site. Cheers Dave

not misrendered, its a representation of the coupler swing, done for clearance checking. if you look at the side view of the cad (smokebox to the left) you can see 2 bogie sides too ( re the above) HTH thanks Dave

rather coincidentally the scan party was the first time both Crewe Heritage Centre, and the scanning company were free, as the latter were busy scanning infrastructure the previous 3 weeks solid apparently. mind you, it would be lovely to get their scans of bridges, tunnels, stations etc. that would make modelling a tad easier and open up the laser cutting kit market even more.

Hi Neil, The site is currently being rebuild, from the bottom up, and will include, purely to give a chance for it]rders to get processed sooner, an -e-commerce choice. 1) securely through 'Stripe' , an internet payment facility 2) Lloyds click safe the second one will take a week to 10 days to get sorted as Lloyds have to re-check the website for security and integration again for me, and Stripe may be online today if all goes well. You can choose your preference once both are online, unless change in that time, in which case i'll post on here and the upcoming MK3 website. Cheers Dave

Hi everyone, As you know the new web site went online this week with a myriad of problems that we had hoped to work through to get it sorted as we went. However this has not been possible to do, and the web site will need to be down for maintenance sporadically from today until possibly Sunday of this weekend. I can only apologise for this, but as you know due to the problems surfacing so far, it has all pretty much been beyond my control. But now we have a plan of action about just what needs doing, (and it's quite a list) this weekend will be busy, but hopefully cure it once and for all. Agreed, although the use of the word 'vitually' is also correct, as no matter the system, its the man behind the extrapolation, his work, understanding, and judicious use of the photo survey that works together with the scanning and software to complete the image accordingly. Now, obviously something has gone wrong. I know they were using 2 types of software to do the bogies, as black is always a pain in the posterior when it comes to laser scanning, but something is definitely awry on the scanning versus extrapolation by human. This is why you still check, check and check again, and why the 52 i did for my previous company needed extra work to get right, and why some models that have used laser scanning have resulted in certain models not being as good as they could be. So it's down to the engineer and his extrapolation using all the information given to him, then to me to go over every last inch, to make sure the file i send to China is positively the best it can be. It is a concern, but not in a grand scale of things, and nothing that wasn't expected...... ok, i'm lying there, as i always expect something, but not an extra door and no corridor connectors etc. lol Fingers crossed for something new from them in this within a few more days. thanks Dave

Hi mate, Thanks for that. Yes Lloyds have checked the integration of the 'click-safe' part of the site, and have signed off on it. I was assured by the web man that my site would be fully compliant, and like other things promised, and pages of items i'd added and some i'd deleted (oo gauge Q6 for example) something out of my control has happened. Now i'm back i'll try and trouble shoot the whole thing, concentrating, as another poster has suggested, in making sure the APT, 92 and King pages are correct and getting the site 'HTTPS' compatible (looking that one up now through some very nice beer goggles supplied by the NHS medicine cabinet. lol) Sorry to everyone for the hasle and delays in this, i can assure you its being sorted. Hi, Applogies for missing this. The HC is slated to have a rear axle drive system with no other gears driving the other 2 axles, this being done by the con rods. Hope this helps. Cheers Dave

I'm stunned as the site is supposed to be completely secure, as the final stage of ordering, i.e. the transfer to lloyds, is apparently, but i shall now have to check that as it was checked by Lloyds. Hi everyone, I am aware that i may have been over the top in my defending of my position earlier with regards to the mails back and forth here with Barry, proprietor of Widnes Model Centre (a great shop by the way and totally recommended), what with everything else going on, i can say that i didn't handle what i perceived at the time to be confusing messages back and forth very well indeed.
