  1. I have done this by cutting the Bachman chassis, reattaching with sides of plasticard (included any as converting to EM). Then needs new running plate with splashers and cab side to match. And new larger wheels and rods for new wheel spacing. I honestly question the sanity but I had an N spare! Do not buy one expecting an easy conversion as it is quite a challenge
  2. Sorry it’s a bit late! But attached are the Airfix/Dapol crane and Bob Edwardes’ prototype side by side on my layout of M shed. My layout used the Airfix ones for ease, but also because I feel the scale version looks too tall!!
  3. Just received. Only have iPhone to hand but they look good!!
  4. Yes I too use first 2 and last 2 for locos. When it comes to DMUs it gets messy very easily I use 2nd 3rd and last two so 150123 becomes 5023. Fine if no Class 50s around. I doubt there is a perfect solution - unless you have 6 digits available!!
  5. I have an dockside exhibition layout where I used hand built track with a second rail to hold the ‘concrete’ and wish I had used an L strip rather than more rail. The infill is lightweight decorators crack filler (not Pollyfilla but same idea just much less weight)which I spread over the whole thing then scraped out between the rails. If you do use lower inner rail/strip then you would need a spreader that fits between the running rails to get that area smooth Not sure if you can with DAS but I would suggest adding colour throughout the filler before laying. Same as for earth etc the colour won’t be rubbed off when cleaning track. John
