  1. Very slightly OT Looks like demand might go up and a new livery is needed by this breaking news on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-44979593?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-england-suffolk-44858700&link_location=live-reporting-story
  2. Have received and read the free copy of BRM supplied last month, I must say I was very impressed. So when I got an e-mail inviting me to subscribe to the digital edition for £29.99 I thought I would sign up. However (unless I am missing sometime obvious) Pocket Mags does not give you two critical bits of information before you are asked to checkout. 1) How long the subscription is for - I would assume one year, but for all the information you get it could be per issue! 2) Whether when you sign up this is a continuous credit card payment or not.
  3. Have voted, but as was pointed out in the Hornby thread, the grouping era covers three periods that are as distinct as the the sub-periods in both BR and privatization That is pre-war, ww2 and post war. This is especially true for the LNER with different numbering of loco's and some livery differences ie no Silver after WW2, With my modelling focus being WW2 I would certainly be interested in seeing the grouping era broken down.
  4. A very useful reply adb968008 . If what you say about pre-orders are true, are not Hornby in breach of contract?. I have just gone onto their web-site and gone through the process of pre-ordering a Peckett and no where does it tell me that my club discount will be removed when I pay. I think if they go through with the plans as you say the small claim court or Trading Standards in Kent might be a little busy.
  5. There has been complete silence on this from Hornby with regard to existing members. I joined in July, to get the discount on an order which my LMS did not have available aling with free postage. Therefore I was expecting to get 4 issues of the Magazine (Autumn 2017 through to Summer 2018) and other benefits. The Summer edition for the Magazine said the autumn issue would be out on September 14th! Hornby will have a lot to do to in order to regain my goodwill and get me to sign up to the revised Collectors Club. Off topic but I seem to have made a habit of this as a joined the Friends of Duxford two weeks before the Imperial War Museums did a similar thing in abolishing what I had signed up to and replacing with another product at a higher price.
  6. I was contemplating ordering the WD Sentinel shunter, but today the latest issue of the World War 2 Study Group's excellent bulletin arrived through my letter box. Within it are contained both details of the Tidworth / Alderney Sentinel, the lettering and numbering as well as a picture. In brief, as delivered, it was "dark green" by rather than WD had the letters "E.P." under the cab windows and was numbered 34. Despite that the Model Rail WD version of the loco will still look nice on my layout.
  7. I have been an avid reader of RMweb but this thread has actually encouraged me to join and make a contribution. Nearly 100% of posts to date have assumed that this is a RTR model, but please consider: We know a lot of purchasers acquire models to collect and never run them. Corgi recently moved into the Diecast non-running locomotive market The recent success of the “Great British Locomotives” partworks. Oxford Die-Cast have made a successful business of what they do, after Corgi’s success with Aircraft they moved into this market – why not with locomotives? The economics seen to add up as well, the suppliers of the “Great British Locomotives” will sell you the loco and part work for 20 euros –and presumably make a profit. So my prediction is for diecast non-running models, but having said that I would certainly purchase these if they fit the area I model, if the price is right.
