  1. Here's a couple of taster snaps of the Plymouth clubs layout. Sorry about the quality, but I took them with the phone.
  2. Hi all Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm looking to fit stretcher bars to built in situ turnouts, EM gauge. The turnouts are constructed from code 75 bullhead using C&L chairs and ply timbering. I'd prefer that they are not too obtrusive and as prototypical as possible (GW). They will be driven by under baseboard servo's. Thanks
  3. Well Phil has managed to get 11 layouts for this years show and more importantly get them all in with a little last minute wiggling. Phil had hoped to get the good captains cameo challenge Bethesda to the show but CK contacted Phil early enough that he was able to fill the space. Only a few weeks to go, now!
  4. Hi All Sorry for the lack of a response so far, but work has intervened. Thank you all for your input, but I will have to put this on hold for a short (hopefully) while.
  5. Hi Can anyone please help, I'm after the dimensions of the rectangular cab windows fitted to some of the full cab 1076 locos. I have lent my copy of the Jim Russell book to a fellow club member who's currently on holiday. Thanks for any assistance. Bert.
  6. An update on this years show, Phil has had 8 layouts confirmed so far.
  7. For Royal Oak. The Plymouth Show will be on Saturday 15 June 2019, in the Abbey Hall which is behind St Andrews Church, from 10.00am until 4.00pm So far there are 4 confirmed layouts and several more pending. It's hoped that Captain Kernow and Bethesda Sidings will put in an apperance, Phil has got his fingers crossed that the good Captain will get it somewhere near presentable in time.
  8. The Plymouth Show will take place on Saturday 15 June in the Abbey Hall, behind St Andrews Church on Royal Parade, Plymouth. PL1 2AD. The show will be open from 10.00 until 4.00 pm
  9. Hi All Phil is still swearing at bits of brass that are supposed to be a Diag R auto trailer. He has the John Lewis book, but is unable too determine how the controls are laid out, the two photo's in the book show something, but we are unable too determine exactly what. It is realised that it will be different to the standard layout as there is the gangway to take into consideration. Thanks for any info or pointers.
  10. Hot off the press the date for your diary is 15 June 19, even Phil doesn't know yet., although he was having a good sniff around at Exeter this weekend, by all accounts.
  11. Well, the figures are in and the door figures are a couple up on the last few years, but it would seem that you lot didn't eat enough cake as the catering was down by a few quid this year. Well done Phil and thanks to everyone that put in an appearance, in whatever capacity. Royaloak, Phil says that the publicity officer position is still open, I can't repeat the rest of it.
  12. Well, by all accounts it would seem that we had a successful show, despite the odd naysayer prophesying that the show was likely to fail. The final figures aren't in yet. Phil would like to thank all those that attended, both exhibitors and visitors alike.
  13. I should point out that Phil has organised the show since it moved to the Abbey Hall and has used the same advertising etc. as previous years and the numbers through the door have been consistent too within 6 people. Most of the customers through the door are from the on street advertising put out on the day, with a few modellers that read the Railway Modeller. As I mentioned above, the publicity officers job is available, if you think you can do a better job. Your budget will be the same as his £0.00
  14. Royaloak will be please to hear that Phil has nominated him to be the show publicity officer for next year, just needs him to join the club.
  15. Thanks Siberian. Other confirmed Layouts are Lakebank, 3mm finescale layout from the Launceston club and Trecarrack, an "N" gauge layout from a member of the North Road club.
  16. Hi All The Plymouth show is on Saturday 23 June, in the Abbey Hall, Catherine Street, Plymouth. PL1 2AD. Behind St Andrews Church. Phil has laid on 7 layouts for your delectation this year, plus trade support and light refreshments. If he tells me what they are I will post the details. I think that the layouts include Invernevis http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/108945-invernevis-based-on-fort-william-in-n-gauge/?hl=invernevis and The Shed.
  17. That's a start, I just need the hipped part now and I can make a start. It looks like this was when they started to dismatle the roof to put up the concrete carbuncle.
  18. Thanks for that, I hadn't considered that Lewes had hipped rooves. Still the same problem for me though. A good excuse to kill two birds with one stone and sink a couple of pints of Harveys, but that will have too wait until I can get back to that end of the country.
  19. Many thanks for that, no worries though, if you don't manage it.
  20. I see that Steve has beaten me to it, but to flesh it out a little more, Merryfield lane is an exhibition layout that has featured in the Railway Modeller a few years ago now and ideally needs a team of 3 operators, although it can be operated single handed, but would not be very entertaining for the public. There are more photos on our website http://pandsecmrc.co.uk/ as has been stated we would like to recover as far as possible the costs of materials.
  21. Hi All Does anyone have any decent photos of the truss work of ex London, Brighton and South Coast Railway overall rooves, the hipped variety in particular. I believe that part of the Brighton side at Victoria still exists and the concourse area of Bognor is still extant, any other location(s)? I have been asked if I could cut some trusses on my Cameo, but I am unsure how they were assembled and being down in Devon, I can't nip down the road and take some photos for my self. Many thanks for any assistance.
  22. Thanks I am going to do it with thin part at the top, the variable thickness should not be too much of a problem as it's a window surround and thus will be supported once stuck to the wall. The wall is 1mm thick card, I could thicken that up by laminating if it proves to be a bit too flexible. Thanks again
