A little late to the discussion but better late than never. I use a Trotec CO2 laser (about $35,000 Canadian) at work and we design in Adobe Illustrator and send those Illustrator files directly to the laser cutter. Job Control, the software that runs the machine, converts that to the G-code for the machine to run. We use hairline thick (0.072 pt) RGB red lines to cut, any thickness of black is engrave and hairline thick RGB blue is vector engrave. Any cut lines that are too thick are ignored by the software. We can use up to 16 different colours for different variations of cut or engrave. Cheers, Todd
