  1. I really do want the reverse livery Grey/Blue Pullman as it sits slap bang in my modelling era. Not my region but have decided it is coming across on a through footex or charter of some kind. Pictures look good, having the correctly cut buffer beam. So what have i done....... Contacted my local modelshop today and have a deal on the table for one split from the train set for £750. Subject to any future price changes, and me being happy with the factory sounds. I get TWO sound fitted locos and 4 high quality coaches for about £150 more than the original list price of the Pullman gift pack from last years catalogue. I'm happy with that for a two speaker model. No idea when it will be released, but if it is around a years time, i have to put aside £14.50 a week to afford it. I assume he is making something out of me at that selling price, and he can sell the controller and track off as he wishes. He has told that this is the only way that these units are likely to ever be available, no more than 1000 are being made so he believes, so i would assume these models will increase in value. My advice, for what it is worth, is get to your local store and have the conversation if you want one.
  2. would the tooling cost for this appealing model be the same or even higher than that of a Locomotive? I think that is a question that Bachmann will know the answer too, and ultimatley decide how many releases and sales are required to get that tooling cost back. If the cost of the tooling and an acceptable profit has been calculated within these first releases, then there may well never choose to gamble on the success of further re-issues.
  3. I for one am eagerly awaiting my new 38-803 crane. Fantastic looking model judging by the pictures and the video posted elsewhere on this forum. Already ordered my first at the bargain price of £90 from Hattons!
  4. Colas 70 cannot be too far away now I would hope. Any updated images from the event? Also, there was an OO EMU this year, the 4 BEP. If you look at the new tooling announced, you can see they have tried to be even handed. Midland 4-4-0 for the Steam guys, BEP for the Modern and Southern fraternity, 20/3 for the contempory scene. Admittedly there is nothing bang up to date on rolling stock, but the VEA, Carflat and Prestwin will find homes on my own modest baseboards. They are useful enough. Looking at the list provided by Andy, and not including new tooling, there are over 60 new OO items announced, plus a Vulcan gift pack, plus all the N gauge. Seems quite spritely really....... Have just noticed the sound fitted Class 44, that'll do nicely.
  5. I am absolutley gutted that Bachmann have overlooked Drummonds Bug. I felt sure this would have been a nailed on dead cert....... not even given me the chance to moan about the price. I feel deprived.............. Oh well, i shall have to console myself with saving hard for the numerous Duffs that have been announced, including a Mainline liveried 47/8 that my mate tells me is being offered to Welsh retailers. Have been waiting for one of these, not sure if it has the tiny or large cabside numbers yet. I would have liked 37099 to be sound fitted, but easy enough for my local store to sort it. Its a nice balanced list of models at a time when the market needs stability in my opinon. While i am fed up of hearing about the delays and boomerang pricing on the Mk2F's (although i do not remember Bachamnn actually publishing a price for these) i know that as they plod along at Barwell, they will probably be nice models in the end. For about £10 more than their much older Mk1's or a not very good Hornby 2E, for a non DCC offering. As long as they get that lighting right, with the vestribules and toilets included, then i am sure i shall succumb. Poor Wallet, The Gran kids shall have to cut back on their endless thirst for new technology that month, their ability to keep me in the poverty to which i am acustomed is stunning. In amongst the hype of twitter latest CAD fireworks and facebook dancing girls holding up posters of another new announcment, you sometimes need a plodder who quietly gets there in the end. Bachmann and Peco.......... As Beer states on their mag, "At The Heart of the Hobby"...... theres a lot of truth in that i think.
  6. i think we must be a due another loco in the next Bachmann Times. .... after the brakevan........ But steam or Diesel?......... which ever it is, 50% of us are going to be dissapointed as they model the other era
  7. i'll take that bet..... a mate of a freind who met a bloke in a pub, seems to think this model has been rejuvinated since the new MD was in place
  8. I agree Martin, Like you, I am mainly in this hobby for the dissapointment. Really looking forward to getting a copy of the 2016 Bachmann catalogue, so i can be dissspointed at that as well on present form, it looks like it will deliver in spades
