  1. I am after some help, with a photo, information or dwgs wrt a LNER 6 wheeled coal wagon built in WWII. From what I can remember from the article there where 6 of these wagons built in WWII by the LNER, there purpose was to stop enemy tanks or trains going through tunnels in the event of an invasion. They were filled with concrete (that's why they had 6 wheels). They were placed at the entry points to the tunnels, on a make shift siding. How the LNER positioned them in the tunnels I don't know or how they decided which tunnels they were stationed at. They may have been even a private owner wagon converted by the LNER. They didn't simply have a extra set of wheels attached to the wagon under frame, it was part of the wagon sub frame (I think). I have only ever seen one picture of one many years ago in Railway Modeller magazine in the 60's or 70's . I kept the issue for many years and like so many in this hobby when you need it you can’t find it. If anybody has that picture or any information I would be thank full as I would like to build one. Can anybody help? Cheers Richard
  2. Hi I have the King James 1st, R 3331-35-078 with the same tender fitting, I tried to fit the TTS last night and got lost then frustrated, I didn't think of turning it upside down which seems simple enough. So wrt the fitting did you have any other issues, and did you have to modify the tender. So I went to the Hornby forum, however the fitting instructions came up with error 440, and this appears on all there TTS steam chips. Cheers Richard
  3. is this a metal disease, and is it able to be transmitted to other metals or similar locos , sorry for being dumb on this Richard
  4. Hi there Has anybody herd if this engine is being released this year, I my last reply from Greg in June was: " we don't have a firm delivery date yet but commencement of production is imminent so I would hope to see the finished model in about 4-5 months". Sorry for being impatient. Richard
  5. Hi I am also experiencing a simlars issue, any help would be noted, my only difference is I use code 100 points . Some difficulties with my points, a number of them that are starting to stick, I have replaced the point motors (PL-10E) , the points and the PL -10 switch the points work fine on the test bench but as soon as I install them they stick. I have 20 pus points its become expensive is there a point/or point motor that will work. Problems encountered so far Points sticking Points only moving in one direction Points not moving Rectifications carried out so far Replacement on all items including the points Installed two CDUs Replaced electrical wiring Replaced push bottoms Checked alignment and adjusted Checked base board for movement non observed. Noted that this is P4, but there must be a way to fix all point issues, Cheers Richard
  6. Hi This problem just doesn't extend to the T9, or the 2800 Class that Hornby produce, I have experienced this on the Granges and Duke of Gloucester TTS sound version, and a number of other locos. The casting in some instances is not shearing off its disintegrating. I have sent Hornby a number of emails with pictures but they have not responded to any of them about this issue. My only advise is to stop buying Hornby products simple if you think about it, if they won't support use as the consumer then why support them. As you would have noticed this is a sour topic for me, even this week end, a mate and I thought we would carry out some simple programming and setting up of Hornby locos and 4 out off 8 (new) locos had issues two of them the casting disintegration. When you think of how much we as model railroaders put in to our hobby, it adds up especially when you have 40 plus locos in a collection and noting that some of us have been purchasing these products since the 60's. Cheers Richard
