With our house renovation ongoing I realise that setting up my layout is not going to be possible for the next few months. This was somewhat frustrating, as I am getting to the point where I am finishing off some rolling stock (finally!) and especially with the case of the locomotives I really need somewhere to test run them. So over the last week I put together a small test track/micro layout. I had a 5ft scenic box spare (Tim Horn) and some odd bits of track lying around. The test track currently has no name and its use is primarily to test stock...however, over time I might well detail this before getting to the main layout. It is a good little side project to keep the modelling ticking over whilst waiting for the the time/space to set up the big layout again. I added a lighting unit to the box, although the points are manually operated, at least for the time being. Now having started I am thinking about adding some buildings......

Nice project to keep you busy during the house mods!

Is the opening to allow you to attach a Fiddle stick so it can be a stand alone project once complete?

Is it possible to get a bit more info on the layouts above (Scale era etc.) as having been checking your Wordpress website and it says more detail to follow...

No worries if not, as I will just google them and look what that offers up!

Was a good show last year 👌

    Thank you in advance

  3. Really sad to hear this - so many inspirational layouts over the years and was lucky enough to meet him and chat with him at the Stafford show 2019, where we were both exhibiting.

My condolences to Ken’s family. RIP Ken.

  4. I would just like to echo my thanks to Adrian and the whole UMRC team for hosting a fabulous exhibition and looking after us so well.

So nice to have help both unloading and loading the van and checking in on us for drinks throughout the day including any cover required.

A great Saturday night social too including my first attendance at the famous pub quiz prepped by Adrian. Food was great all weekend although now it’s back on soup and salad to offset the puds from the indulgence over the 2 days.

It was my show debut for Wenford Dries and overall I was pleased how it ran and I received some very nice comments both days. I have updated my RMWeb blog if of interest rather than take up too much real estate on this thread.

Thank you to all that helped out and to my neighbour Rob (with the fabulous Ewe layout) for our chats and banter throughout the duration.

Finally, great to see friends and make new ones at the show.

    Thank you,

Just been asked by bcnPete to update the Wenford Dries entry in the OP with its correct gauge. It is actually 31.5mm (finescale 0) so as to improve the appearance and running whilst still using ready-to-run stock.

Just checked the Exhibition Guide proof copy and it's correctly listed there - phew!

Talking of the Guide, it's grown to 40 pages this year and has a track-plan and photograph for every one of the twenty layouts - only a £1 on the door.

    Many thanks Adrian!

  6. First time at the show for me but know the venue as have exhibited there when it was Wycrail - easy to get to from London and no problem parking.

Fabulous selection of layouts with high quality modelling. Nice to have chats with various people I bumped in to.

Many thanks to all those who organised the show. Look forward to the next one, even though I model in 2FS and 7mm!

  7. That looks absolutely fabulous Mark 👌🏼

Backscene works well as muted (as it should) and the overall presentation looks great with the name too.

A cracking example of what can be achieved in less then a month (albeit I think you said you built one of the buildings offsite beforehand?)

Look forward to see the pics when the lighting is installed and I hope the show goes well 👍🏼
