  1. Just listed the Silver Jubilee rake on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LNER-Silver-Jubilee-Coach-Full-Rake-OO/173711989744
  2. Your set looks really good, I had never seen anyone use the technique until I posted on here and now I have seen a few. I am planning on selling both my coronation and silver jubilee sets on ebay in the new year as I will be making a more accurate set from plasticard, from which I am hoping to create moulds so that I can start making poured resin models to sell. I strongly believe that these coach's should be available to all and not just the people who are willing to dedicate 100's of hours to creating there own.
  3. Been a while since I have posted an update as I have battled with motivation to complete the last 6 coachs. Its been a very repetitive process of cutting, sticking, filling and sanding. But finally, I have now finished all the build work on the Coronation coachs: Really pleased with how they have turned out, roughly two weeks of painting ahead due to all the individual layers of paint and masking etc. Fingers crossed I have finished them for Christmas
  4. I know the coach you're referring to it was added to the rake in 1938. It doesn't interest me in the extra coach, I like the fact it is 2-3-2 as it is balanced front to back
  5. After 77 days of cutting, gluing, filling, sanding, painting and applying transfers the Silver Jubilee rake is now 100% complete: I am unbelievably happy to own this one off set. When I first started it I didn't think I would ever finish it.... Now to get cracking on the Coronation set
  6. It is rather Extreme, the worst was the Silver Jubilee Kitchen car, 26 parts stuck together, filled and sanded, it was a nightmare, it was also a coach many on FB said was not possible. I love the challenge: Been working really hard on the Silver Jubilee rake this weekend. its all built and painted, just drying before I apply transfers and matt varnish. Should have this one completed in the next few days, then I can focus on the Coronation set.
  7. Not sure what you mean about enough meat on the triang coach but I have had no issues with making any of the Coronation or Silver Jubilee coachs from them so far, sometimes I need to use more than 1 Thompson coach to make a coronation or silver jubilee coach.
  8. Coming on nicely, lot more filler required but its a waiting game in between layers
  9. I'm not 100% happy with the back of the coach at the moment. I think a few more hours work tonight and it should start to look better, hoping to get the basic shape of the curved roof done tonight, if my thumbs can take it, stabbed myself in both of them last night with a scalpel
  10. Bit of an update, a lot of people have questioned how will I do the observation car so thought I would start work on it. Progress is slow but my head is buzzing with ideas and work arounds. Progress update below:
  11. Thanks for the info Dave, I started making the sides last night, hopefully get them finished tonight and the chassis cut to size. Im going to give the roof a go myself, nothing quite like old fashion filler and sanding to get the shape youre after
  12. Wouldn't have a clue how to use CAD or a 3D Printer to be honest. I will get the roof shape as close as possible I think and then use filler and sand paper until I am happy with the shape of it
  13. Thanks Ian, I have spent many hours looking at your coachs. Its such a shame they are no longer available as I think they would still sell well. I like your idea for the curved roof on the observation car, although I can't remember the last time a saw an easter egg with a plastic insert, the world has gone recycling mad
