  1. Birdeye view of NER coal drops with orange markings underneath.
  2. The NER coal drops currently working on. I'm still trying to find a solution so I can also coal wagons which only have the side doors. The skeleton of the ash tower above the hopper wagons.
  3. The turntable has changed quite a bit from the last photo posted.
  4. This is the 3rd time I've painted the cab of a loco. The 1st being Hornby BR no: 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" 2nd Hornby GWR no: 101 I'll upload these later
  5. Here is the improvement road surface of the road bridge along with the installment of the chicane, traffic light and unit.
  6. Its time for a layout update. Since the previous update, a lot of the work has been focused on the following. • Gravelling the road over rail bridge. • placing traffic light, unit and gate on the bridge. •History of Sierraton MPD •Have raise the lower half of the MPD to the same height as the other half. •completing the turntable. •Building more on the MPD boundary wall. •Re-shape and fix the track in the main MPD. •Attempt to make NER coal drops. •Ash tower •Continuing the large water tower. •Finalising station names and plans on the branch line route. •Install ash pit. •Seperate squence for locos entering and exiting the main mpd. •Seperate sequence for freight arriving and exiting the main mpd. •Made a start on the sandhouse. •Made a start on two coal stages. • Have also been seeking advice about signalling. •Raising the platforms to the correct height. •Placing point motor base templates. •Painting the cab of a loco.
  7. Hi, to any who has the newly released Dapol water towers, would someone be kind enough to measure the base in cm or mm. Thanks Steam here!
  8. Okay, great news, the trap points I can take care off, the MPD, bay and run round loop will be present, but static. Which I don't mind as long as there's a representation, I'll be happy with that. (Something like the previous photo). Next thing I'd like to ask is the locations of the signals (semaphore and ground signals) and the directions they are facing). Goods yard levers, would they be single levers? I'm thinking of also putting a signal box on the platform (a small one like Ratio do) Which direction (side) would the signal box steps be on? My thoughts of having the signal box would be on the basis of: •There will be more than one loco in steam in the station limits. •A small MPD. •Bay platform to accomodate extra trains. •outside the station will be single line. (Token required). •Its a busy Terminus (also currently working on a timetable). • A variety of freight and passenger trains). •There are 11 points. Could I also ask, what does IMHO mean?
  9. Thank you RailWest, I see you what you mean, at the time of laying track I used the Peco trap point, unfortunately they only do straight sections, all the track is fixed down. However I can do static trap points (a basic representation, but static). Regarding the trap point for the bay platform area, please could you tell me where abouts I'll need to put it. Would I be right thinking, it needs be placed on the curve next to the footbridge? Would I also need one on the curve next to it (the MPD entrance) only asking, from time to time their will be MPD related freight using this (Coal, box van= carry tools for loco maintenance etc). The Bay platform will be used for coaches, I will also be using it for the TPO, cattle wagond and the occasional freight train. (Primarily for forming (holding goods train), if the main platform is in use or where it is permitted on the time table). Here is the photo of the static trap point I did a couple of months ago.
  10. Hi iands, thank you for you're help, regarding the ground frames, I wasn't sure if I needed any or not. I take it when you say the traps will be protected by a signal, would I be right thinking ground signal? Regarding the MPD and MPD siding, I've got a few single hand levers that I can place down.
  11. I've included photos of goods yard, MPD and the road bridge. (catch point) just behind the water tower).
  12. Hi RailWest, the trap point is included in the diagram, I should have explained earlier. If you look at the track plan its just before the right hand curve between the Hornby uncoupler (Fuel depot siding), but above the engine shed. Regarding the ground frames, I'm not sure where to place them, I'd imagine I'd need some for the goods yard a perhaps one for the mpd? (This is me just guessing). Bècasse, I see what your saying regarding the origin of the pre-grouping. I haven't decided yet as I like a variety of locos from different, regieons, periods, history etc: I do have my layout forum on here with photos if that's any help hopefully it'll make things clearer. I don't know if I could link it on here
  13. Hi everyone, I hope I have put this in the right area of RMWEB. I'm hoping to seek advice from other members for the signalling and ground frame (ground frame colours) arrangement and positions. All the signals will be semaphore (including ground signals) overall the layout is a freelance (no particular period). I have included a photo cropped from scarm, and hopefully this helps to explain. Please note: There is a vertical road bridge (not shown) seperating the running line (coming from the bottom right) and the station run round, bay, small MPD and goods yard goods yard all groing through three portals. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  14. Just made a minor improvement to my Hornby LNER D49. I've replaced the traction tyres with Hornby metal wheels and I have to say. Its very daunting 1st time and what an improvement. Having watched Sam's trains on youtube I decided to do mine. Here's some photos, I'm very pleased with the results.
  15. A new Hornby turntable R070 on Ebay for £66.95. Hope that helps.
  16. What about carrige works or carriage shed? A small harbour scene? Or a scene blocker with spacious scenery giving the illiusion it leads to somewhere. I think a good idea for spacious scenery could the Settle to Carlisle or the Fort William to Mallaig railway, perhaps for imspiration? If it was me I'd make a list as well, what you have already on the layout: Railway station, engine shed, goods yard, junctions, industries, buildings Etc: After that you could then ask yourself, what you would like (Ideas for the corner) And go from there. Hope this helps.
  17. A quick update regarding the MPD, progress has been made and I'm very pleased with it. The updates will becincluded my layout forum. As for here, this is what I have done: Decided not to proceed with the carriage shed as I didn't have the room. I've extended the inspection pits. I've made a start on the general repair shop. Locomotive hoist and inspection pit included for the general repair shop. Using a metcalfe factory kit, using this to make a sandhouse. Turntable base now fixed in play. I've had to remove a tunnel abutment to make way for the loco headshunt. Making holes for the fencing with clearence in mind. Track steadily being put in place. The main layout forum can be found here > Layout Topics. (For recent photos) My first Proper layout oo gauge (Analogue) Thank you to DavidCBroad for your help. Its greatly appreciated.
  18. Carltonholme's engine shed: Windows painted and glazed. Brick arches now in place. Shed doors attached. With futher details to add
  19. Some of yard lamps I'm currently working on, still in progress.
