Long but disappointing list; nothing of interest to me. Disappointed that there is no 86/2 to rectify their original model and close out the Class 86 line. Whelp, time to buy more Hornby models and mod kits,

I recently was looking to do a preorder for the Hornby DVT and was informed by Rails that they will not be doing future business with Hornby. See post: https://railsofsheffield.com/news/articles/3528-important-statement . Sad to see this since Rails has always been one of my favorite shops with pretty good pricing and great customer service. I remember reading somewhere that Hornby was trying to change their business model to direct sales through their website as opposed to second vendors. I didn’t further enquire to Rails about why they broke off with Hornby as it isn’t my business but curious if anyone has heard and is this something that we will see from other dealers in the future?

I get why Hornby is going full Nazi (is it still acceptable in Europe to say this?) on the 8 pin but why? I get it supports their system but this sounds like a military contract where it takes so long to develop the technology to meet specifications that it is obsolete when it hits the production line. Why? Living in the US, British train production is really sad. Sorry, I'm venting.... Guess the 87s will be doing push-pull to London and I'll be disabling the lights on one end. Hopefully the Heljan 86s allow light control so I can use 86s and 90s on my 47 change-outs...

Hi All. Finally retired and have a chance to do a bunch of repaints of my ViTrain 47s. Doing Intercity Swallow, Railfreight, and RES. However, last time I did some repaints (~2008), I could order Railmatch but can't get my hands on it in the US anymore. Has anyone done any repaints for any of these liveries in the US and have a recommendation on any domestic paints (or mixes) to get the right colors. Any help appreciated.

The Hornby Class 87 has been out for a while and one of its worst oversights (in my opinion) is the inability to turn off the marker and headlight when pushing. My layout is a 1994 station at the end of the wires, so all trains either get a loco change or push back to London. The lights are very distracting when pushing. At this point, has anyone figured out any fixes? I got it I can disable one end of the push-pulls but if I do loco changes, that won't work. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to Heljan on following through on this. I was concerned after reading this about their desire to pursue an 86/2 and 86/4 but looks like they are strongly committed. Makes this much easier than putting a Hornby body on a Heljan chassis. Looks like my old Heljan 86s are about to make their way onto eBay!

'morning! Does anyone know if the new Class 86 bodies will fit to the old Heljan Class 86 bodies? Bought a couple of the old ones a few years ago with a plan to match these with Hornby Class 86 bodies but with these new Class 86s available, I would rather just get the new bodies, upgrade them to ~early 90s 862xx and 864xxs. Thoughts?
