We have a smart oven that connects to the internet.

Can it automatically set the time when the clocks change?

    No it bloody can't.

My non smart central heating timer, now 13 years old changes with the clock changes. (MSF radio control?)

My car has a touch screen DAB+ radio/media player/Satnav does not use the time data from the DAB signal and has to be set manually.

My previous car same make, same range had a much more basic manual DAB radio/CD player and did get the time info from the DAB data🙂

Leased rolling stock and traction is very definitely an economically sensible way of running a railway - whoever owns that railway.

How many multiple units does GWR own?

How many Aeroplanes does BA own?

How many buses does National Express own?

The most expensive assets are normally leased these days.

The upshot is that today, reproducing a model / artwork / signage which is owned by the SMG will require express permission (and a finically contribution to the organisation) to do so.

Unfortunately they don't see too bothered what it looks like as long as they get the money.

Just look at all the ghastly abominations quality collectables produced by Bradford Exchange.

  4. Some of the later Black 5s had fixed electric lamps, they also had white discs for use during the day.

One is the famous (4)4767 with outside Stephensons gear.

There's a 1948 photo in Essery & Jenkinson's LMS locomotives taken at Preston with it carrying two discs in Express Passenger configuration.

  5. I went on a Cumbria Round Robin with my wife in 2018.

Most Northern services were a 37 + Mk2 set, but they were due to be retired so the train was packed with enthusiasts*.

However our train was topped & tailed with a couple of 68s, which had rather upset them.

*They were a PITA as they had bagged every forward facing window seat, even though many seemed to be travelling together.

I was rather glad they had their 37 bash thwarted.

Very true, but as I have found on many PCBs I have looked at, it may be on the pin but they don't very often bring it out to a pad you can solder to. Of course if you are brave you can solder directly to the connector. The reason I know, because that is what I thought I would do until I started examining PCBs.

If you are rerasonably confident at soldering, the Plux & 21pin should be doable (they are the same form factor with the male & female reversed).

The Next18 might be a challenge.

The LaisDCC ones not only come in a variety of sizes but are cheaper,

I would've thought many other makes are cheaper than Hornby.

Train-o-matic also make stay alives in a variety of sizes, or you could build your own.

Lets see what 45157 brings, but when I look at a Black 5, I see Black wheels, like this…

Maybe Hornby think all Black 5s are like 5000 when first introduced.

Lots of polished steel, includiung the wheel rims..

  9. Poor start to the season due to the wet.

Onion & Shallot sets only recently planted in the raised beds.

Some Toms & Sunflowers on the go as well, not much else happening and to add to the problems my back is playing up, so no "hard"work.

Spot on. Make proper technical improvements to keep pace with the market (so copy Accurascale and Dapol for tender coupling cams), firebox glow again copy Accurascale/Dapol and Rapido. Keep gimmickry to a minimum or if you must fit 'working' headlamps test it on Railroad where there is more need to enhance the product and the market more willing to dabble with 'functions'. As you said literally all that Hornby had to do with the Black 5 was the same as the Coronation and the lovely BR 2MT. Non working lamps with a hole in the base to pop on a lamp iron (first offerred by Bachmann with the A1 circa 2000!) would have been a nice touch, have cost pence and kept everyone happy.

    Really?

Firebox glow pathetic*, coupling+cams dodgy. I hope Hornby go more like Accurascale and less like Dapol, who are pretty good at cockups themselves.

*let the decoder do it, not some unadjustble add on circuit, unless it is out of circuit when a decoder is used (include it on the DCC decoder blanking board?)

(i'm basing my comments on the Mogul.)

Ecublens, Vaud, Switzerland to be more precise. Quite where in Ecublens I'm not sure, there are mutiple stations, yards and junctions inthe greater area. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ecublens,+Switzerland/@46.5286182,6.5424166,6034m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x478c31052cbee56f:0x400ff8840198520!8m2!3d46.5296363!4d6.5615252!16zL20vMDJ2NnEy?entry=ttu

Possibly on the Lausanne M1 metro line where the track doubles at stations. There are level crossings at many of them, ideal for taking a photo at that angle.

My guess is here , but there is no StreetView.

It's 1435mm, I thought there was some suggestion it was narrower track.

Here's a view a short distance away (Cerisaie):

Cue the usual defence of "people don't like change" (in which case don't change anything without a very good reason!) Things like this are why people don't like change.

I have duly sent Google my opinion of these changes.

Why change somthing so that it removes a site's content from the page?

e.g. under the Duluth Canal Cam there was a list of the other cams in the network with links.

    And a lot more

All this has gone in the new version, I can't see the content providers being happy with a change like this.
