  1. Hi All,

I'm after a bit of help and guidance.

We are installing a detection system into our modular layout, using the YaMoRC LN6061 system so that we can run dispatch control in our modular meets and follow the locos around the layout.

However, when we are out at other groups meet-ups, we would prefer to be able to bypass the system, so that the other groups are not forced into using the DCC system that we are using.

The common negative feeds have a very simple solution, of just putting the plugs at each end and ignoring it. Easy peasy!

The separately wired positive connections are causing more issues.

I have 15 sections on my module, one thought was to wire single pole double throw (SPDT) switches in between the YaMoRC LN6061 board and each of the track sections, as per the (incredibly crude) drawing below.

However, I was wondering if there was some way of doing this without having to manually throw a bank of switches each time, possibly using some sort of bridge rectifier circuit.

Hopefully, someone out there will be able to assist.

Hi Alistair, are these any help?

    https://www.railtec-transfers.com/rivets/

Obviously they're not on pre-determined backing plates as everyone's needs will differ in terms of the size of plate that's needed, but they're hugely versatile and can be applied to any size plate you like.

What I haven't yet publicised is that I've since successfully tested 3d bolts, i.e. hexagonal, although to be honest unless you reached for a microscope it's not until you get to around 7mm scale ~1.5" head diameter before you can see much difference between a rounded rivet head and a hexagonal bolt head!

These are super easy to make and made right here in the thriving metropolis of Ashbourne, Middle Earth. They normally get dispatched in < 24hrs, sometimes even same day.

They could work. I will have to make an order.

  3. Hi all,

After a bit of help I'm looking for a supplier of Etched brass, Plastic, 3D printed, etc. riveted plates as per the picture below.

I am after bits that are 13mm Squares or Circles (either will work) and various sized rectangular bits.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a seller that would be great. I have spent most of the day on the web trying to find them, and completely drawing a blank.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks

    Alistair

It's been some months since my last post. The layout has not been set up for over a year now but hoping to do do in the near future.

In the mean time I have started to weather the new Revolution IPA car carriers. Just one out of eight pairs that I have has been weathered . The rest will follow in the next few days. I am tempted to put vehicles in them but I have only seen  them run empty through Banbury. Once weathered I will add the resistors to one Axle per pair to trigger the block detection on the layout.

Also on the workbench is the Revolution KUA's. Whilst I am not aware of thrm having run through Banbury I could not resist these. Once the weathering has dried they eill get a coat of Dullcote to dull down the shiny covers as per a photo that I have seen taken at Totnes. One thing that I have noticed is that the tiny yellow lifting lugs fall off cery easily and I have one missing. Luckily the others I found on the workbench. All of thrm have been strengthened with a touch of superglue. The end grab rails on the covers will also be treated the same way after the masking tape pulled some of them out but luckily remained attached to the tape. Superb vehicles though but anyone who has these, just be careful with them.

    Feb 15th 2019.
68033 and 88002 took one KUA and a pair of support coaches in to Bicester MOD for storage.

My Pendolino drive cars have been with Mohan at Rapido for repair since March.

I have a call scheduled with him tomorrow to discuss status but I fear the worst.

I sent them back for repair as they were very juddery at low speeds and one of the drive cars went faster than the other and to top it all one of the decoders failed (track voltage was 13v, before anyone asks).

Mohan hasn't been able to resolve the issues and I think tomorrow's call will be to tell me that there is nothing more that they can try.

Rapido don't have any other Pendo drive cars knocking around to replace them with either.

I'm pretty bummed out about the situation as it looks like i'll end up with 11 sparkling coaches and nothing at either end.

If I do end up getting cars back is there anything that I can do to resolve it all myself?

Anybody had the slow speed judder? What did you do to resolve it?

I could have the decoder changed although I won't have the sound files unless anyone can put me in touch with Legomanbiffo?

If all else fails can I fit the body shell onto a similar chassis?

I can't help feeling that I shouldn't have to be thinking of solutions like this when i'd spent $660 on a model that failed within a year of very little use.

Chase rapido up as they have found a few in their warehouse and are bringing them over for Warley. You may get lucky, may not be the number you want but does mean you can play with it

Yes much the same here and doubt I could even fabricate an excuse to run them on diversion via Banbury apart from 'rule 1' but its going to be very tempting to run with the Pendolinos on future layout. I wonder if I could fit Penrith in between the Santa Banbury fiddleyard.

a couple of sets gave gone through Banbury when Bristol Parkway was being updated last year. unfortunately it was a ROG 47 hauled move not 68.

The Scotrail Sleeper has also gone through when the knitting came down on the WCML and it was stuck at crewe. They stuck a 67 on the front and dragged the whole lot to London  via the chilterns.

  7. One thing to remember is the West Coast Mainline is shut between Coventry and Birmingham all of the bank holiday weekend. Just to add more issues in to the mix, both Aston Villa and Coventry are playing at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and Monday respectively so remaining services (Chiltern Railways) will be very, very busy on those 2 days.

Hope you have a cracking trip.

  8. I recieved in the dead of night an e-mail stating my order for TEAs has now been completed! Does this mean we are getting a dupilcate order, or is it a mistake and it is the 390s which have been shipped?

It’s Mike clearing up the web siteorder system. Some people have got 4 order numbers for the pendo (deposit, payment, lights, sound upgrade).

I have had 4 (patriot, TEA, pendo Deposit x2) in the past few days.

  9. Why should the N gauge crowdfunder be the same as the OO gauge? If the demand is lower or insufficient then perhaps a different business model is needed ?

Why not issue a one type (eg black nose) limited edition 5 car set at £400 (not dissimilar to the APT-E) and then do prolonged runs of the coaches perhaps without numbers until either demand wanes or there is sufficient demand for a rerun of power cars and trailers / or there could be limited runs of variants.

I think that this is a very vaild point and Revolution said the same with the 321. The more options that we are given, then the more the money is spread around. Hence why Farish will do 3 models in different liveries and we just have to accept it.

There are 6 different sets available, with the differing of number of coaches and with or without black window surrounds. Possibly too many options were given too us. We are well known for being indecisive look how many different scales, Eras and Countries we model.

Im glad the 14 was available to us though. :)

  10. You just have to look at the RevolutioN threads for the IZA (cargowaggon), HOA (stone hopper) and TEA tanks.

Every few comments, you get someone asking for them to be released in 00 gauge. They have managed to get the TEA through into production and got to the minimum quite quickly showing the buying power of the 00 modellers.

It’s unfortunate that the APT-P hasn’t quite got there yet, I’m hoping that it will, as I really want my 14 coach unit! Hopefully there is a long enough period for the N gauge orders to be collated.

  11. Slightly random question... Will the chassis be common between different liveries? I'm twitching on a GBRF one (as they're now in charge of the silver bullet trains it seems rude not to), and would quite like a sound one, but would probably rather put the sound chassis in one of the EWS liveried locos. Do you know if a quick body swap is likely to be possible, or are there differences/livery elements on the chassis which will preclude that?

I would assume that as Rapido have fitted speakers in all of the Pendo’s that the same method would be used on the 92’s, as it only costs pennies for a job lot of speakers. So even if the body swap isn’t possible due to any detail differences, it would be a relitively simple job of swapping the decoders over.

  12. The one that the Modeller took to review was being used all weekend by me on Kinlet Wharf at Warley. That has a test fit box with Grey scale colourings and a prototype foam tray that wasn’t the finished article.

Although there may not be many more models to sell, in order to generate some hype and good feeling that people’s hard earned money has been put to good use. There are also some people that may not use forums so this is one of the best ways to get the news out that they are nearly here.

Give them a break, it’s not going to be too much longer before we get our grubby little mits on them!
