Just come back from Honeymoon to find one of the tanks has fallen off!!! Need to reassess my attaching methodology......
-
Lifted the body off and disconnected the tender coupling, sniping the wires off. It still works!
Phew....
-
Good question, I will probably try something when I have found a good way to attache the back end on.
-
I tried a rectangle of black card against a Q1 some time back as per the diagram and it just looked wrong. Despite the utilitarian nature of the type there would have had to have been some sort of shaping to the lower edge if only to access the side motion for oiling etc.
I have filed the curved Standard 4MT tanks so that the lower edge is more angular which suits it better,
An 0-6-0 tank and the Pacific Q are on the to do list....
-
The tank (singular, nothing on the other side yet!) is only held on with blu-tak at the moment and thinking overnight I agree it needs to be positioned a little higher although I do have to watch out for the cab front windows as I presume the driver will want to see where he is going!

I tell you something, looking at the pictures taken late last night in the cold light of day makes me realise something.
My workbench is a right old mess!

nice work! where do you get the NSE transfers from?
Fox Transfers (www.fox-transfers.co.uk) sheet ref number F4330 for the loco logos/numerals, F4231 for the NSE coach logos and the ever dependable Replica Railways rub on transfers for the coach numbers (of which I really need to get some more!!)

Wow, now I know my old Networker has gone to a good home! I eagerly anticipate seeing the finished product.
Yes indeed, many thanks for them. I think your two are the bottom right and bottom left one...
-
I think the parcel waiting for me at the Post Office to collect on Monday afternoon may well be the aforementioned bits of Networker!!
Anyway, despite some awful lighting, I managed to get a shot of my completed Mk2d 'FK', apologies for the quality of the photography mind:
As for the Vi-Trains based 47711, well it has arrived, been dismantled and is currently part way through the repainting process. When completed I intend to do a head to head comparison with my Bachmann based repaint 47579:
I seem to be building up an awful lot of locos for such a small layout! I hope to do some properly lit photography at some point to record the stock I have as I do need to work out a few things here.

Nice work John
I gather from your model that a number of Jaffa 4 CEPs carried the new livery but not the new hopper windows.
I was partial to that livery preferably with the black edging to the orange stripe.
Lovely
Thanks for your kind comments. It should be noted that only 1500 carried Jaffa Cake and had the old type windows, it was the prototype refurb unit (originally 7153) all the others were fitted with the more familiar hopper style. If someone did an etch replacement for them then any refurbished 4-CEP becomes very possible, not just odd one out 1500!
First find your bits....

Unfortunately there isn't much left of it. The rear buffer beam and the cab end bulkhead were cut off and used in the Q-Tank whilst the wheels, pickups and what's left of the chassis frame are earmarked for other Q like projects.
