  1. Thank you Steve, I will be in touch next week. Willy
  2. Steve, if I were to order a Class 15 from you in the next week or so would you hold it for me to pick up at the GOG Kettering on Saturday 4th March. Cheers Willy

    Dapol 08

Another very happy customer with Paul’s sound system fitted to D3043 (green, no stripes). It is superb.

    Dapol 08

For all you gripers here there is an MMP kit for a class 08 for sale on the GOG website for £160. All you have to do is; join the GOG, buy the wheels and motor, build it and then paint it and I am certain it will be absolutely perfect. The paint will be perfect for which ever loco you choose at what ever time and don’t forget it would have had a different shade of blue depending on how long it had been out of shop, etc. because some of them faded rater badly. They will also have the electrical trunking in the correct place but you will have to be sure and see a photo of the rear of the cab on your chosen loco, at your chosen time, just in case someone in the electrical shop didn’t reroute the conduit because it was more convenient to do so at the time! Also, did you get a photo of both sides of your loco, just to make sure! Meanwhile, the pragmatic amongst us will either ignore the various ‘problems’ or get a paint brush, or a modelling knife, and set about them and have an excellent loco up and running in the time it will take you to read the kit instructions. I am no apologist for Dapol nor do I have any connection with them other than owning 2 very good little Terriers which were a fraction of the cost of a brass kit, or RTR brass, and to my mind, are excellent value and I have another one on order. If I were in the market for an 08 I would buy the Dapol without hesitation and if there was a minor ‘error’ I would either ignore it or put it right and get on with life. Willy
  5. http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/425_1.html have SR green in stock. Willy
  6. They do say that further Ex-Lionheart releases will be announced soon so I wonder if the small prairie is on the cards! Willy
  7. Thank you Paul, very useful. I thought the problem was mechanical and I hadn’t considered that there may be a problem with the ‘electronics’. I will contact DCC Supplies in the morning and see what they say. Thanks again. Willy
  8. Thank you Martyn and you are probably right but I have only had it a week and it is brand new so I think I will return it. I am keeping an eye on ‘Church Norton’ and it is coming along nicely, I am very impressed.
  9. Thank you both. I purchased it from Antics and I am sure there would be no trouble returning it for a full refund or a replacement. I was just hoping that there may be a simple solution without returning it because that is the last one in that livery.
  10. I have just bought a new sound fitted Terrier from the first batch (⌗2644 in Southern livery) and I have a problem with the running and I will try and explain what I mean. If I start off at slow speed it stops just about every revolution of the wheels and sometimes there is a slight buzzing from the motor or speaker and sometimes not. If I turn up to half speed or so it will run but when I reverse it stops again. If I do get it to run in reverse it seems to lurch along as though it has a tight spot. I did notice that sometimes it rocks on the centre axle and if I put it in my ‘maintenance’ cradle one wheel on the centre axle has reasonable up and down movement but the other side not so much! As I say, it is new so I don’t want to tinker just in case I need to send it back. I have another Terrier and it runs fine, as does my Peckett and my kit-built locos so I would say there is no problem with the track or controller. (NCE Power cab) Has anyone else had a problem like this?
  11. Thank you for your response. I am using Apple so I will try that update later today. I had a few minutes spare so I took the opportunity to update Adobe and I have my picture back, so thanks again. Willy
  12. Is anyone else getting this bank screen? It has been like this for the past couple of days! Willy
  13. Thank you both. I though it was going to be like yesterday when I missed a train of UP passenger cars go by behind a train of double-stacks that was stopped across the crossing. I could just catch a glimpse of the yellow cars between the containers but not enough to see what they were. Willy
  14. I have never seen anything like these before but I assume they are new coal hoppers but who owns them and where do they normally run? They were part of a complete train of the same cars but I just caught the tail end because it was mostly hidden by a double stack. Willy
  15. Has anyone considered repainting one in GWR livery or would it involve a lot of extra modification? Willy
  16. Chris, Chris, This philosophy is commendable and I would like to think that most people are more than willing to share their knowledge and skills with others. Willy
  17. Many thanks for your offer John but I already have a sheet of HMRS transfers which will be adequate for this project. However, for future reference I will keep a link to your website. Willy
  18. Chris As I said, I purchased this wagon without instructions and, as I am not a GWR or Ex GWR expert, I had nothing to go on as far as livery was concerned, so your link to the instructions was a great help. I know you understood what I wanted because of this and the other link you posted and indeed you were taken to task yourself for that help. Anyway as a result of your help I know what I am going to do now so I will get on with it this coming weekend. Thank you again. Willy
  19. My heading may have been ambiguous but under "Topic Description" I entered "Placing of running number, etc, in BR days" and in my first post I said "GWR Loriot M Diagram G14 Machinery Wagon from the Connoisseur range which I have painted in BR grey" so I thought my request was clear enough. However to some I seem to have not been perfectly correct so I must think more carefully before posting in future. Incidentally, I wasn’t aware that this wagon was called LOMAC in BR days so I could not have mentioned it in my heading so I take issue with your criticism on this point. You have to remember that not everyone is an expert like yourself and hence the need for topics and requests such as this. Willy.
  20. Morning all! What I meant Nick is that I have painted it more or less the same as Steve's in post #11 in this thread. That is BR grey side curb rail and black sideframes. I had already painted the black patches for the number, etc. when I realised that I wasn't sure of the correct placement. Willy
