I very rarely get involved with wish/frothing lists but I have wanted one of these for ages , BR blue one for me ! I know you haven't really even started with the 71 yet Dave but do you have any timescales for starting the 74 , as my wallet will need to recover from the 73,71 assault that's coming . Darren , absolutely top notch photos , especially ooc , I hope your dads collection includes some GE line pictures and if so please upload them when you get a chance , my favourite one so far is the one of you and your brother at ooc next to the 50 , you couldn't make that trouser jumper combo up !!! That's exactly the kind of stuff I was wearing when my dad used to take me round Ripple Lane !! Once again , great stuff and thanks to your dad for letting us see these pics, Cheers Paul.

UK steam ..............................9F raw power brutal lines. UK diesel...............................class 47 quality thoughtfull styling with the sound of a big Sulzer. Euro.......................................FS E656 "caimano", power with that certain continental style. USA.........................................SD40-2 as stated previously , great sound with a "thuggish" good look. As with all the other posts , its all personal taste ! cheers paul

AVB going to spurs for me as a West Ham supporter is a nice bit of news , hopefully he,ll be as successfull as Gross or Ramos . Seriously though i was very surprised to see Harry going , getting to fourth and getting some quality football at white hart lane .......... Either Levy is a closet gooner as stated above or he knows something about Harry we dont know................. Regards Paul.

Seems the old mk1 coach was pretty popular ! The over varnished wood around the window frames with that little groove along the bottom where you could leave your spotting pen ! I can remember thinking that the window frame companies must have been making a fortune from BR with all those mk1/2s everywhere , i think the company names were Widney and Beclewat or something , Its amazing to think i havent thought of those names for years and this thread jogged my memory !!!!!! I think for me , a mk1 sk , those nice squashy high backed seats , wood panelling and old world feeling, the reading lights glowing away ,[if the bulbs were still fitted] , i remember travelling up to Waterloo from Salisbury quite late at night in absolutely foul wet weather , hardly anyone else on the train , the compartment felt so cosy and comfortable , mind you i had other trips in unheated filthy mk1 s which were not so nice !!! regards Paul.

Please note Dilbert , the comment i posted was made by frenchmen , not me , i have worked all over europe for the last 20 years and have come across these views on numerous occasions. I certainly dont have a " condescending" attitude to foreigners , my mother is Italian and it would be therefore hypocritical for me to have that view. regards Paul.

Brian R , You have hit the nail exactly on the head................................. i was chatting to some french aircrew yesterday after the FIFA announcement and these guys said surely the english didnt excpect to win , no one in europe like the english ,particularly those in positions of authority like Platini and Blatter, and they are always looking to give the english a bloody nose. Also dont forget FIFA are alledgedly not exactly whiter than white regarding bungs etc.............. Regards Paul
