I know this is going off topic, but is this an easy enough fix before I send the item back?

I watched jenny Kirk’s video and she bought replacement drive shafts which I can’t find in stock now. Is it more a case of removing the plastic cog and glueing it back onto the metal shaft?

    thanks

I didn’t buy any replacement parts. I just cleaned the drive shaft ends and the push fit part they fit into where the slipping was occurring then superglued them together carefully. It helps to lightly scratch up the mating surfaces for a good key. But don’t take off too much material.

After many years of avoiding such things and preferring to wait for rtr offerings, I took the plunge and did a conversion on two 08s to make a class 13 using NIU models parts.

It was much easier than I was expecting and has certainly made me re-evaluate the ability to do such things in the future. It took maybe a day and a half over a weekend, and I’m pleased with the end result.

They seem to have also indicated that the models announced in the quarterly announcements won't quite as strictly arrive in the following quarter. We've seen this with the Class 31's and the Newton Chambers stock to name a couple in the past few months. I don't really have a problem with this as such. Perhaps there is a sweet spot with newly tooled wagons being 3-6 months, coaches 6-9 months and newly tooled locos anywhere from say 9-12 months. Gives people a fair bit of time to plan whilst not playing their hand too early.

They may have run into transit time issues because of what is happening with shipping via the Suez canal at the moment. Hornby already reported it had caused them some delays, so it stands to reason Bachmann would probably be hit by the same delays.

  4. I have a video to go out at 9:15am on the 2nd covering the full releases. I did get the press release and media library so it isn’t guesswork and covers all the items being announced with high-res images:

In that case why does the Dapol instruction sheet refer to the Imperium 1 as the 860019 ?

    https://wicknessmodels.co.uk/slarti/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Imperium_instructions.pdf

Functionally they appear identical and the major difference is there is no srink wrap on the Dapol ones.

Probably means that Lais are pirating Dapol too.

I clarified with Dapol, that Lais are nothing legitimately to do with Dapol’s decoders.

For the record the the Lais 860019  (sold at a higher price as the Dapol Imperium 1)  has 2 logic outputs so is not suitable for this loco. Its is actually listed as 860019 on the instruction leaflet supplied by Dapol but all their documents refer to Auxs 3-6 to being logic . Lais themselves state

.Just to muddle the matter they say the same of the 870019, Digitrains however list it as

That again is sold at a higher price as the Dapol Imperium 7 (oddly not listed by Dapol themselves)

Just to be clear, Dapol Imperium are not made by Lais and have nothing to do with Lais.

Lais are pirated versions of the older DCCconcepts blue decoders

  7. With the class 110 forthcoming, I suspect it might be that.

The absence of the class 20 was glaring - it was the best TTS profile and sounded as good, if not better than those costing more than twice as much.

No GWR profiles (we have had King, Castle and Saint on TTS) has also been glaring. I would hope for at least a King profile to tie in with those announced in the 2024 range.

  8. For me, an obvious candidate for a Dublo release would be the N2. Long overdue a retool anyway, with the current tooling cascaded to the Railroad Plus range.

The question then is aside from the 69567 and 69550 models plus LNER green and LNER black, would they release faux LMS, Southern and GWR versions?

I doubt there would be a huge number of new tooled items. I think the Railroad plus range will continue to expand. I would like to see the D49 get a retool - long overdue and no one else does one.

with some of the quirky items like W1 and the turbomotive being quite successful, is there room for something else of this vein?

Plenty of prototypes never done still to choose from. I bet 100% someone is hard at work on a T3 model. Is it Hornby? This would be when it gets announced if they are.

  9. The skeletal logging cars have just arrived from KR Models. These are really good, with plenty of detail. They come in three varieties: unloaded, with three logs and with six logs.

the logs are really good. Made of resin they are really well finished and look like real logs. They come in several different diameters for variety. All cars come with chains that can be used to lash down the logs and these attach to the outriggers quite well without needing glue.

  10. Don’t read too much into the pictures of the speaker and motor as the motor is out of a GT3 and the speaker is out of a Fell. I’m sure someone is just being creative for purposes of having photographs to use in their emails.

Looks lovely in Black. I wonder what they used as the sound file?

I do not believe there is any working steam model anywhere.

It must have been a bit like a West country in terms of sound but with a Garrett like chuffing with it going in and out of sync as it run.

Of course we do not know what KR have done (other than working with ESU). @Jenny Emily Any ideas as to how KR built their sound file please?

I have no idea. You would have to ask KR Models directly.

  12. I filmed the EP last Sunday, for a video to be released tomorrow. The EP runs, has working front light and firebox glow. There are some things still being worked on and will be changed from this EP.

youll have a game beating jenny kirks A4 collection !

I only have 20 - still need 14 more to get the full house in BR livery.

some are very elusive having never been released in the BR liveries in the new tooled DCC ready versions. The Silvers are particularly noticeable by their absence hence why I snapped up the renumbered Silver King. I’m only aware of Quicksilver having been made available, but it is a curious one featuring older style valve gear on a new style body and chassis with the new type tender that has the tender pickups.

If any one is looking for A4's at the moment check out Clark Railworks, there is a good selection available... though slightly less by my recent purchase!

Silver King and Lord Farringdon in BR green are in my possession from Ellis Clarke now as I was there today.

The TMC rename/renumbers are very well done - they look like they came from the factory with those identities. The weathering is also superb.
