  1. I’ll be honest and say I found no need for a stay alive on the model as it ran without issue on my layout.

Radically changing the tooling to change other things would effectively mean tooling the model again from scratch. That wasn’t an option, so I’m happy they chose to release this model instead of no model.

  2. I was lucky enough to be sent a pre production sample from the new batch.

It features slight modifications to have a 21 pin decoder which is a lot better for DCC fitting. It also runs flawlessly and I had it pass 3.5hrs of continuous running with no issues at all.

Please note that whilst this is the factory weathered version, the pre production sample had not gone through the weathering process.

Which is an issue with Wikipedia, whose policy is to favour the consensus of the majority of sources. This means that if new research comes along demonstrating that the previous consensus was incorrect, it can be very hard to get a Wikipedia entry changed to reflect this new knowledge.

In the worst cases this can perpetuate falsehoods about individuals.

Apparently Terry Pratchett once tried to edit something on the page about himself because it was wrong, only to have it reverted because he ‘didn’t cite a source’

  4. I spotted the following that looks very much to be a bogie well wagon on the abandoned track bed next to the A484 some distance north of the Gwili railway’s current northern terminus.

According to street view it was there from at least 2008, and looks like it has been there much longer. Does anyone know the story on how this came to be here?

  5. The thought occurs that perhaps Hornby were well advanced with their Lion when they discovered they couldn’t get the rights. Perhaps their plan had been to announce the model pretty much at the point it was being released. The blacked out box art might suggest they are hiding the advancement of their model until it is ready for release.

Will they be removing the square yellow panel to the middle of the wagon as well jenny? Someone here stated that it placed them after the steam era. :)

    Yes. Being removed.

"William Loud"  Must be a livery application error?

Nope. William Loud and Sons is explained in the description on the Rails listing.

with regard to the ‘not to go’ card this is being removed from the livery.

fraid so lol , someone sold one the other day for £70

Oh my word!! You can nearly buy three for that price of the main range ones. Makes me think I should have kept more than two for myself, but so many people desperately wanted one that I released to sale eight of the ten I was going to keep for myself.

if you could only find one lol

They sold out extremely quickly. Despite the usual haters trying to talk down the project, they proved exceptionally popular and sold out faster than quite a few of the main range versions.

The new commission of the Palbrick is also doing just as well if not better. It will not hang around.

  9. Overall I’m pretty happy with mine. The first arrived damaged, but I can’t fault Peco being quick to admit the issues and working to sort them.

There are a couple of gripes, but nothing insurmountable. DCC fitting was a huge pain, but I hope this and the packaging are addressed when the next run is made. Video of mine:
