Workington Open Day - 1983

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm looking for some info and photographs on this open day. I believe it may have taken place in the sidings at the rear of the station. Would anyone have a list of locos attending? If anyone can help I'd be most obliged.

Cheers, Peak

What was open to the public?

Was it the steel / rail rolling facility?

From the description, it would appear to be the BR stabling point, adjacent to the station, rather than the then-British Steel facilities. The latter had an Open Day themselves, just before closure, IIRC.
