RMweb Gold rodent279 Posted December 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 22, 2017 Morning all. What do you make spray booths from? How big, are they fully enclosed etc? Do you have any photos etc? Thanks in advance, Neil
Pete the Elaner
I use an old show box pulled flat then held together with paper clips. Any gaps are covered with masking tape. There is obviously no extractor but I only use this for airbrushing, which I find to be highly efficient in terms of overspray. Any primer spraying is done elsewhere on a large ground sheet in an area with loads of ventilation.
antonyvw
A big old cardboard box. I use it in my conservatory. When its past its useable date then I just get another one.
Mike G
For the last 10 years or so I've been using this. I've had to change the filters 3 times during that time. But I wouldn't spray without one now, they do make a difference. https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=5345&name=portable-spray-booth Mike

RMweb Premium Torper Posted December 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) I've got one of the one Mike refers to above, or very similar, and it's very good and much better than the home-made versions i previously used. There seem to be quite a few very similar ones at varying prices, often with the number HS420 - this one on ebay looks just the same as the one I've got which I think is very similar if not identical to the one Mike refers to. It is however considerably cheaper and seems to include a vent tube which I think is essential: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airbrush-Spray-Paint-Booth-Kit-Filter-Extractor-Air-Brush-Art-Craft-Portable-/112690369047 Or you can get ones that incorporate lights which seems a very good idea, assuming that they're not a fire hazard: https://www.amazon.co.uk/NEW-Black-Model-extractor-Extraction/dp/B01E2OYRYO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513935316&sr=8-1&keywords=portable+airbrush+spray+booth DT Edited December 22, 2017 by Torper
RMweb Gold Tony Teague Posted December 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 22, 2017 I would think that spraying paint with either an air-brush or rattle cans without a filtered spray booth was potentially quite dangerous to health. I have used a spray booth with filters and an extractor to the outside for several years but I could only put it in a place that was cold and potentially damp, so not good for spraying paint. Recently I have acquired a better booth with twin filters that can be used indoors and without an external air pipe, so I can use it comfortably indoors. https://www.benchvent.com/art-graphics/bv300s-a3-glue-booth These things are not cheap, but then one's health is somewhat important!
