E.A. Marsh quarry in Cross Keys

Recommended Posts

Just noting the E.A. Marsh wagon Hornby sells and wondering if anyone had any knowledge of the Blue Pennant stone quarry owned by this concern, if indeed it is based on a genuine Welsh company and is not the fancy of some graphic artist? I have a strong familiar link with this and several other areas of Wales, quite aside from the railway affliction.

Apparently it's in Keith Turton's PO Wagon Books - Vol. 10.
I don't have a copy, but it seems there is a prototype.

just saw this topic. E Marsh was an actual person and a business concern. It was situated alongside the Western Valley line between Crosskeys and Pontywaun. According to R. A. Cooke's Track Layout Diagrams Section 40 Western Valleys there was a siding loop off the main line. This was in operation between 1909 and 1936.  My Great Grandfather worked for Marsh around this time but because he also had quarries both sides of the valley I'm not sure if he worked this particular one.
