Point motor wiring

Recommended Posts

In order to avoid shorts, am I right in thinking that if two point motors are installed facing in opposite directions, then the live and return wires to the motor (electrfrog point) must be reversed on one of them? Naive question perhaps but having a blank MOMENT!!

Thanks for help and forbearance!

Point motor wiring will not cause a short on the track.

If you have a crossover & want to throw both points with the same switch, then the motors will have to be wired opposite to each other.

Electrofrog points need isolation to prevent shorts.

Is this purely the point changing you're talking about? Using Peco points? There shoud be no connection between the point motors except the common return.

If you mean the wires for changing the electrofrog, you should check this out per point.

The wires for changing the point motor direction (red and green in my case) may have to be swapped. I do my point wiring with alligator clipped test leads until I get it right.

Sorry.......my question was as bad as my lack of knowledge.  It was the the track power feeds on the SEEP motor to which I was referring.  I'm quite happy with the wiring to operate the point motor.

Thanks for the comments.
