RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 19, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 19, 2010 This belongs to Neil Cooper and I've been co constructor and corrupter. Neil has done the vast majority of this himself and I was along to hold bits while they dried or set and provide a bit of technical advice on the catenary. Originally it was going to be fully automatic using LGB's MTS computer control but after reliability issues due to the compromises we chose for a portable layout we went back to standard DCC control. Track is 45mm representing metre gauge and the stock is mostly from LGB with a couple of locos by KISS and Brawa.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 19, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 19, 2010 The station is a mirror image and shortened version of the real Arosa station. The advantage of G is the low level shots are easier to focus realistically log loading point The traverser which is just a 3ft section of track running between stripwood guides. RhBBob
Paul, that is absolutely beautiful ! And proportionally less expensive than the 'Om' equivalent. (The Alpin Line BDt 1751 is due for delivery next month - I have had to sell my Wife's car, she doesn't know yet, obviously..... ) Klein-Arosa looks very portable too; when and where is it being exhibited ? Satan's Goldfish
Everytime i look at this one it makes me want to build an indoor portable extension to the line going down in the garden. Think i'll have to wait for that one. Looking great as ever. Why was it built as a mirror image, not the same as the prototypes orientation?
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 27, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2010 Why was it built as a mirror image, not the same as the prototypes orientation? Neil decided it was the best way to keep the atmosphere without having it looked at as a scale model which was impossible in the space. He imagined it as a short spur from the existing Arosa so it became Klein Arosa in the way that we used to get Upper, Lower, Central or town prefixes & suffixes when a town had multiple stations in the UK.
