Imustbemadatmyage
Having just purchased a nice Dapol n gauge Grange class to go with another Dapol Grange class with dcc fitted, I am considering which chip to use in it. Dapol appear to use Gaugemaster DCC23 chips but they seem to be hard to get hold of! Are there any other chips small enough to fit?

RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted February 19, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2019 Not to forget the Zimo MX 616 (even smaller, little bit more expensive) or MX617 (slightly bigger same price or slightly cheaper) and MX618 Next18 for those who have this modern interface. Paul80
One thing to watch out for is that although Dapol recommend the DCC23 decoder, they made changes to the PCB that means it's not always a good fit and sometimes sits too high for the tender top to go back on. In my case I have 2 9F's one will take a DCC23 and the other will not, I had to use a Zimo MX616 in that one, the decoder socket was mounted higher on the second model, it's also said to be an issue with other Dapol locos with the motor mounted in the tender, The mx616 is a much better decoder than the DCC23 but a double the pride it wants to be. RMweb Premium Shropshire Lad Posted February 19, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) MX622n have been, or are in the process of being replaced by the MX617n. A six pin MX617n will coast you £20 Edited February 19, 2019 by Shropshire Lad To make a little clearer
Imustbemadatmyage
Many thanks for the help and suggestions. Having looked at the dimensions of the various suggestions I have gone for the MX616N. It's the only one that is smaller than the DCC23 so should be guaranteed to fit!
