rob D2
Hi, bit of a point motor virgin... The instructions aren’t bad but they don’t mention the throw adjuster at all ( slidey plastic bit ). Is this critical because all it seems to do with my OO points is bend the actuating wire - they still throw at most positions ? i presume the motor has automatic internal system to stop it trying to push too far ? And what do I do when I like the position - glue it in place ? any gen appreciated Edited March 18, 2019 by rob D2
Brian
DCC Concepts recommend using a small amount of PVA Woodworking glue to hold the fulcrum plate (slidey plastic bit) in place once its 'sweet spot' is found. The motor/gear train will drive fully both ways until the end of throw is reached. Its the fulcrum adjustment than governs the amount of sideways throw on the drive pin at the points stretcher bar.
RMweb Premium Chamby Posted March 19, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 19, 2019 The wire is supposed to bend, it creates the pressure that holds the turnout blade tight against the stock rail. Also, if you leave the over-centre spring in Peco points, the wire will bend until it exerts enough pressure to overcome the spring.
