Jerry1975
Hi Everyone and welcome to Mill Meadows, this started because my wife and mother in law bought me a train set for my birthday last week, it will be OO gauge and a roundy type layout with a couple of sidings for goods or a engine shed and a couple at the back as a fiddle yard. I'm using the Bachmann midland marvel train set I got as the basis of this layout. So far I have built the baseboard which is 4ft long and 3ft 6 inches wide. The baseboard is 9mm MDF and has 34mm x 34mm support underneath. Here are a couple of photos of progress so far: Underneath. Top. More Soon. Jerry1975
Hi Everyone, I have been meddling about with track trying different plans etc. I want the layout to be reasonably simple and it's a bit of fun to watch trains and do a little bit of shunting. Setting is a country scene around the 1950's - 60's era but I will run anything that takes my fancy. More Soon. Jerry.
Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I have been having fun sorting out a track plan and I have laid some track on the scenic side of the layout ( front ), this is basically a half oval with two sidings coming of it, one for a engine shed and one for goods. I will post a photo later. More soon. Jerry.
Pigwife007
Nice to see you’ve started Jerry is this the maximum space you have...... it may get a bit crowded after a couple more birthdays and the odd Christmas present. happy modelling dan
Jerry1975
Thanks Dan, Yeah, space is a bit limited at the moment but it should keep me entertained, there will be a couple of storage roads at the rear when I get round to laying the second half of the track so I can change trains. luke the train spotter
Looks good Jerry. Though simple I think roundy layouts give great satisfaction and its nice to be able to stand back and not have to worry about the complex operating that you get on other layouts.
Jerry1975
Thanks Luke. It's just basically something to give my locos a good run/stretch. Here is a quick photo of how it looks tonight: More Soon. Jerry.
d&h
Jerry, what radius curves are you using for the main "circle"?

Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I have changed the track plan layout and made a start on the goods store that will go in the small goods yard, there is also a siding for a small coal yard. I have omitted the engine shed and instead there will be a road over the track that leads to the station. Jerry.
Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I have done some more work on the layout and concentrated on the left side. This is where a small goods yards is going to be and I built up and painted some wills kits. Here is a photo: More soon. Jerry.

I also bought the small signal box and I'm building that up at the moment. here are a couple of photos: Farm. Another view. Overall view, please excuse junk. more soon. calvin Streeting
nice.. we all place junk on unfinised sections its just gets smaller.. dont be afraid to twist buildings a bit so they dont run square with baseboard edge, or even square to building next to them. .
Jerry1975
Thanks Calvin. Well, I have been busy lately but have managed to do some more and built up a Metcalfe platform kit. Here is a quick photo: This is how the layout looks at the moment, nothing apart from track is stuck down yet, this is so I can see how things look, reposition if necessary.
