Bomp
Help! I’ve had a look and failed to find an answer. I have started gathering Mainline 7 plank Bass coal wagons for my industrial set up. I think they would look better with replacement chassis. I’ve found Dapol ones which fit but they’re a) needed under the wagons they came with and b) not quite what I’m looking for - the buffers are undeniably better, but the brake rigging is quite coarse. Can anyone suggest a replacement chassis? I’m more than happy to hack things around to make them fit, but I’d prefer the right length chassis (right to fit the wagon body not the right length for the prototype...). Thanks in advance. Mark Saunders
The Mainline RCH mineral is a pleasant looking model but it is 4mm too long and on a steel chassis that was rather rare on the real thing! It was a standard chassis for most of their wagons. Mark Saunders
RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted July 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 5, 2019 A possibility might be to use the Cambrian RCH wood underframe kit - ref C34 - though the solebars would need a bit of extension to stretch to 17'6" over headstocks. I see that Oxford have turned their RCH wagon out in Bass livery too - this wagon is at least of the correct dimensions for an RCH 1923 specification wagon. What were the prototype wagons? RCH 1923, RCH 1907, or earlier?
