40034_Nick
Hi All... I need this type of Bogie with pickups. Anyone any ideas ? Thanks https://www.Bachmann.co.uk/product/branchline-br-b4-coach-bogies-x236-037/
34theletterbetweenB&D
Three DIY options. The material Bachmann's bogies are moulded from takes a small self tapper very well. Screw on a piece of phosphor bronze cunningly cut and shaped to act as wheelback wipers. Short one wheel to the axle (or buy suitable Hornby wheelsets as used on their Pullman cars) and put a wound wire pick up on the axle. Find and install split axle wheelsets and have wipers bearing on the stub axles; or better yet copy Bachmann's technique on their most recent coach bogies and modify the bogie to take a phosphor bronze piece with dimples to take the axle ends, for no incremental friction pick up. RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted August 21, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 21, 2019 Are you requiring pickups on a coach bogie for lighting purposes or as additional traction power pickups? If it is for coach lighting, retrofit battery powered led systems are available and do not need powered track to work.

Thats all well and good but in 5-10 years i will have to replace the battery. Plus the fact if they go on movement then the lights go off at stations.. vulcanbomber
Impossible to get DCC Concepts wheel sets but just found your post https://www.petersspares.com/peters-spares-ps84-141mm-disc-coach-wheels-one-wheel-live-to-axle-x1-pair.ir … with DCC Concepts pickup springs https://www.hattons.co.uk/59657/dcc_concepts_dcf_ps2_0_pickup_springs_2mm_axle_for_oo_x_48/stockdetail.aspx Is it possible to remove the wheels so the springs can be fitted?
