Michael Hodgson
When I was commuting from Huntingdon, the train was booked for a 31, top speed 90. Always faster with a Deltic running only only one engine
EddieK
I have stumbled upon a website called Rail Gen Archive, and for the Summer 1980 period that I am particularly interested in, the (incomplete) records for the 1A37 service between Brid and Scarborough show locomotives including 47405 and 45015. I am presuming that the ECS working from York to Brid via Anlaby Road curve would have used the same loco as the passenger service onwards from Brid to Scarborough, also that a different loco would take the train onwards from Scarborough to KX, where I have seen Deltics and 47/4 mentioned. Also of interest is another train, 1L11, the 11.12 KX to Scarborough via Bridlington. On the same website, the incomplete listings show 47/4s working this train. These discoveries have given me some possibilities for my layout project...
mac1960
I remember dropping an American girl friend at York in 1978, who was heading back to Cambridge via Huntingdon and it was a Class 55 still in Blue, but I can’t remember the name or number unfortunately. I think they were used on the stopping service to KK, after HST had taken over the fast services. Cheers
