Help with Weathering : Bulleid Q1 in BR

Recommended Posts

I've found it difficult to find good side colour photos of the Q1s. Im looking more for the wetter and washed by the rain apperance (not totally) than the very dusty matt look. Im I incorrect and were the Q1s just found to be very dusty?

I havent had a good go at weathering a loco so any advice and good blogs to visit would be nice.

I must own up to having more than a passing interest in this one:

Good morning,

I have weathered my Q1 with a Matt slightly dusty appearance. This was a combination of washes, dry brushing and airbrush all using standard Humbrol enamel paint. Since weathering it about 4 months ago, grease from the gearing has given the chassis an oily sheen.

The tender has real coal and a rusty top around the water filler. Footplate crew are white metal figures of unknown origin purchased on eBay.
