storing a ECoS for over a year

I am putting my ECoS into storage for over a year. my question is should I remove the batteries or level them is. I ask this I I am worried that it might lost it memory and os over the year.

the risk is though, that the batteries will leak, it shouldn't lose its memory provided its been shut down correctly. Might be worth asking SWD?

The ECoS is really a small computer system, which just like your PC don't like suddenly losing power. The batteries are there to provide power to allow it to shutdown cleanly and save your settings should power be lost without the system having been shut down first.

 

It is perfectly safe to take the batteries out once the system has shutdown and none of your settings will be lost.

 

As Pheaton says, the danger in not removing the batteries when storing the system for long periods is that the batteries could leak.

Totally agree with reply postings above.

 

Do take out your batteries after a proper shutdown and store in appropriate conditions ideally with a couple of small silica gel packs to absorb any moisture in the atmosphere.

 

In addition you can 'back up' your ECoS settings on your laptop/PC. You'll need to have a connection to your Router for this, which will also facilitate firmware updates.
