d winpenny
I was originally planning on having a Concrete Sleeper factory in the Private siding, but the area is not large enough to display anything without overcrowding. I think I will stick with my current plan of making it into a Rail contractors yard. nice layout look forward to any updates, what make is this rail crane please? Matthew2h1
Track Plan would be good too What make is the blue shed? I'm looking for something similar in N Gauge. They are Pikestuff i think. I've got one very similar and they do them for N scale. Matthew
Richard Pike
Trackplan, I have one, just a matter of locating it, please bare with me. The Fencing was attached to the posts, very simply with Super Glue, to which lies a story but I won't go there. The Buildings are indeed PikeStuff, the main shed was two kits modified into one. I still have lots to do to these buildings yet, they are currently only in their bare form. The Rail Crane is a Kibri Gottwald HO model, as is my latest addition below, a Plasser and Theurer Tamper that I have finshed in Volker Rail colours. RJL
Yeh you're right there DanielB. I was meaning the actual location. The layout is really good and is a great example of what could have been if the original was still with us, that's progress for you. Russ
AyalaBotto
Hi Richard, What's the reference of the yellow paint used on this Plasser & Theurer USP 2000 SWS Track Profile Machine? I just received this kit and I should start to build it next month. Can you please send me more detailed photos of your model? I'm trying to gather as many information and data as possible in order to produce a more accurate model. Your model is awesome! Thanks. Regards, Ayala Botto Mr Ed Scott,The Big Yellow thing is a Network Rail Plasser USP 2000 Ballast Cleaner which makes up part of my HOBC train (saving pictures of that until the layout is finished)Here it is, waiting to clear Blackwell yard, behind 66705, on it's way to Doncaster.June210 004.jpgJune210 002.jpg
Londontram
Only just found this thread and as a long time gricer who spent more than a little time there in the 1970/80s this is just how I imagine Westhouses looking now if it still existed. Well done

Richard Pike
Hi Guys, Sorry for being offline for 18 months, I had to leave Singapore at rather short notice and unfortunately ended up having to break up the layout. When I started out building the layout I never gave any thought to making the layout portable, so when time came to move it was impossible to disassemble the layout in any practical way. After spending 15 months in Aberdeen, I have just moved back to Nottinghamshire and commenced building a new layout "Portlethen", look out for a new layout post in the next few days. Thanks to everyone who followed Westhouses and gave so much encouragement. Richard
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted December 26, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 26, 2013 Pity that you could not keep this layout. As one of the other posters wrote, you had really captured the character of the location and how a depot there might look like today.
