JeffP
Does anyone know how to accurately mark loco frames for the new style detailed cast brass hornguides sold by Slater's? The cutouts need to be 10.67 mm wide... I've checked and that doesn't equate to an imperial measurement as far as I can find. So how does one mark out, let alone cut, to an accuracy like that? RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted January 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2021 My initial though would be to find the centre points, measure 5mm either side and cut the gap out to 10mm and gently file until you reach the gap you need for the hornblock to fit properly. However, i'm not a modelling engineer and others may have a better suggestion. If you search RMWeb, or Google you may find other folks may have written about these and given tips. Also, if you post the question in the kitbuilding section you may get a better response. Ian
Quarryscapes
I strongly suspect it's a typo, and should be either 6 or 7, not 67. Being cast, there is no way they can be anything near 2 decimal place accuracy. My mitutoyo Micrometer makes one 10.594 at the top, and 10.513 at the bottom... 1
JeffP
Ah...now that does make sense. I was pretty sure that they'd need to be set in place using the coupling rods, and that would allow some room to do so.
