EddieK
Bit of a prototype - model crossover, here... I see that the Accurascale Deltic model has a number of variations to match the prototype - wipers, horns, cab side windows for instance. For those that know about the subtleties of Deltics - which model would be the best starting point for representing 55008 as she was in Summer 1980? RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted February 26, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 26, 2021 55008 had uniquely shaped buffer beam cowls, so unless your prepared to butcher another - or accept the error - you’d need another 55008.
EddieK
I have looked at the buffer beam cowls on 55008 vs another Deltic and cannot immediately see a difference. Is the difference on the cut-out section that reveals the buffer beam itself, on the transition from the body side, or the transition to the "body" of the buffers themselves? Not sure really how to describe it. Below is a photo of 55008 and you can see the square shape where the buffer meets the body. Below that is 55002 without. 55008 | Doncaster Works: in the line of withdrawn locos 07/0… | Flickr 55002 | 55002 21.02.12 National Railway Museum York | rob50037 | Flickr
EddieK
Ah! I see what you mean. The images illustrate the differences very well. Looks like I will need to get creative with my proposed model of Number 8...
