Simon Moore
I am seeking some information please on midland 1f tanks. I have a round top boiler 1f with a full cab thats part built from a craftsman kit. I would like to model it as a br loco but did any of these last into br or were they all rebuilt with a belpaire boiler?
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted April 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 10, 2021 According to a picture on the RCTS archive 41777 still had the original boiler and British Railways on the tanks in 1955

RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted April 11, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2021 See S. Summerson, Midland Railway Locomotives Vol. 3 (Irwell Press, 2002) for full details of reboilering, cabs, withdrawal dates and allocations.
brossard
Lovely album of 1F pics Tony. I was overjoyed to find a pic of 41835 still with it's round top in 1961 - late crest to boot! I had thought that they all had Belpaire by this time. I have a second hand Slater's 1F kit part built. Now I can go ahead and do it, knowing there is proof of its correctness.
