MarcD
I'm looking at building a model of the distillery in S7 circ 1900-1914, but apart from the map and a few 1970's photos I have drawn a blank. Does any one have or know where i can get hold of any info? Marc
RMweb Premium Kylestrome Posted April 16, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 16, 2021 (edited) I don't know if these photos are of any use to you? All taken on a very overcast day back in the eighties. David Correction: These are actually Glenlochy distillery, Fort William. MarcD
I think that is the Nevis distillery which was closer to Fort William itself. Nice photos any way. Marc

MarcD
That's the one. I emailed the distillery to see if they had anything that could be if interest but they so-far haven't got back to me. The project would workout at about 5ft by 2ft. haven't got a clue on the wagons or locos used. but I would suspect they would be mainly NBR marc
KeithMacdonald
Would they have had any locos or rolling stock of their own, like these? https://whiskyshunters.blogspot.com/ Or would it have just been visiting "whisky wagons" (bulk grain) like these? http://www.eastbank.org.uk/grain.htm Paul Bartlett's page and pics: Quote Introduced in 1966 for Associated British Maltsters Ltd and Scottish Malt Distillers and known as Whisky covhops. There were four batches, only those 35 for ABM remained on UIC suspension, Later the others were variously repainted and fitted with pedestal suspension. 30 wagons from the final batch were refurbished with air brake for Grainflow, which were later used on Alumina traffic in Scotland, as were many vacuum braked examples. DavidBird
I have a contact in the Visitor Centre of the Ben Nevis Distillery. He's sent me these two photos, hope they are of use. Tanker of spirit loading up, Ben Nevis Distillery Nevis/Lochaber distillery and maltings with the railway crossing. Distillery siding from the main line enteres from the left between the buildings, to a wagon turntable. 2 sidings lead away from the turntable. The crossing gates are a road crossing over the main line. The levelcrossing today, looking NW towards what was the distillery on google maps.
