motorcycle
These links give information of where timetabled freight should be (the grey info is freight). It doesn't account for live information if the freight is early/late or cancelled but it should give some useful information. The kbs number is the train line reference which you can change to get a different area. These are the lines that serve Plattling http://www.zugfinder.de/kbs.php?kbs=880 http://www.zugfinder.de/kbs.php?kbs=905 http://www.zugfinder.de/kbs.php?kbs=931 It works quite well. For example there is a car train in Plattling right now (the live map shows nothing in Plattling, but one recently has left). You type the dgs number (the freight identifier in google/flickr) and look for a train with similar wagons. So the car train in Plattling right now is the Gyor (Hungary) to Bremen freight. http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201612031200 https://www.flickr.com/photos/manuel_schmid/22612778507/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/114621596@N07/16256872303/in/photolist-Asdpev-z2K6W6-qLyHKM Edited December 3, 2016 by motorcycle
motorcycle
What kind of wagons are these please? http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201703170730
llamafish
The wagons themselves are just modal flats. The loads, however, are 'Innofreight' open containers as per: https://www.flickr.com/photos/48657441@N03/18958838693/ used for the transport of containerised coal, sugar beet etc. Those ones at Plattling are used for the conveyance of woodchip. motorcycle
Which locomotive is this please? http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201703241830 http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201703241845
llamafish
EVB class 223. Seems to be a new booked flow, been arriving every day for the past week pretty much, assume it goes down the branch to Deggendorf. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lumixfan68/32538317835/
motorcycle
This is locomotive 218 256, a bettter view of it in the photo below https://www.flickr.com/photos/manuel_schmid/22868939724/in/album-72157646518188131/ I wonder where it was coming from/going to? Diesel trains are quite rare unless they are going to Deggendorf on the branch line, so maybe to there? Edited April 12, 2017 by motorcycle
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I am off to Munich at the beginning of May, so will aim to get a trip up to Plattling. Any thoughts on a busy time to aim for? I shall probably be there on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Mike at C&M
Dr.Gerbil-Fritters, a suggestion. Go to the platform end nearest the webcam. Phone a friend, and tell him to go on to the Plattling webcam. Wave at the camera, and get your friend to do a screengrab as you are waving. A wonderful souvenir of your day in Plattling! llamafish
Recently, the sidings over the right hand side, where the slurry tanks are parked, seem to have been extended, and there seems to have been more track laid and trees cleared in that area. From what we've seen, these sidings seem to be used by 'private' operators rather than DB.

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Didn't get to Plattling, but did spend a couple of hours at Munchen Ost so saw plenty of freight there. Pics when I get home.

RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted May 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 11, 2017 You should have hopped on the S-Bahn to the next stop east, München-Trudering, where you would see even more freight coming round from the northern ring heading for Austria, in addition to most of what you would have seen passing through München-Ost. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ianm42/albums/72157649956698452

Mike at C&M
Lots of engineering work going on this morning.
Mike at C&M
Anyone able to identify these brightly coloured diesels seen at Plattling this morning? Also, a shot of some of the engineering stock being used.
llamafish
It really has been fascinating watching the works over the past couple of days. Those orange diesels are Northrail class 261s, similar to their DB counterparts. Basically a 21st century V90, at home shunting in a yard or hauling freight and trip workings.
Jon Gwinnett
Could the locos be these: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/36/Voith_Gravita_10BB_northrail_261_301-6_2235_Torsten_Baetge.jpg Snap!
Mike at C&M
If you like a bit of weather with your trains, severe thunderstorms are moving across southern Germany, and should be visible on the webcam approaching Plattling over the next hour or so.
