The Leeds & District Traction Engine club (I'm the newsletter editor) had a BBQ at the railway last summer and we had the Hudson Gogo tractor.

AMJ.

I'm going to NGNorth on Sunday and plan to visit Armley Mills.

I'll be based in Leeds City and using public transport.

Is Kirkstall gala/railway close to Armley?

Mac.

From NGN the Abbey light railway is about 4.5 miles towards Leeds on the A65. Just spot the big ruined Abbey and the railway is nearby.

Armley to the Abbey is about 2 miles. Distances taken from Google maps.

I'll probably go on Saturday to NGN as I'm out with the car club on the Sunday - just look out for the Darjeeling Himalaya Railway shirt.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'll be having a pop down tomorrow, not normally into this narrow gauge stuff, but I am starting in SM32 so this could be an interesting day out!

And I think a visit to the chippy down the road is a good shout biggrin.gif

Had an excellent visit yesterday and met up with Suddaby at the show.

Worth enduring the roadworks and speed cameras heading north out of Leeds through Kirkstall, etc. to see 'Pempoul' and Peter Kazer's new Ravenglass & Eskdale layout 'Boot'. Not forgetting the 'Stealth Bomber' of course and several other excellent ng layouts.
