This LMS period 2 corridor brake third is a I recent build from a Comet kit. It forms part of one of the sleeper sets.

Another Comet kit; a Stanier 6-wheel BZ. I remember seeing these at York still in traffic in the mid 1970s.

Hi Coronach, I've followed you here from your pictures posted on the FB model railways group. Its great to see some proper old school scenery being built from card formers, chicken wire, pasted newspaper and plaster surface. You can't beat the old methods!

I especially like your weathering, some of it is very subtle and not everything is heavy-handed like some professional weathering people do.

One question - what do you use to get the torn/worn paper notices pasted onto the van sides - e.g. last photo in post #212? Are they just painted on?

Thornton Junction 4MT 76109 stands in for regular Hawick loco 76050, on the afternoon Newcastle to Hawick school train. There is a photo of 76050 on this train consist in 1965 in 'Steam Ramble no2 North West', by M Pope

Hi Martin ; all my weathering uses railmatch acrylic paint and some coloured chalk or talc. The ripped off posters are painted on with an almost dry brush.

Thank you for your complimentary comments. I treat this layout as a 3D picture and try to achieve an overall balance of textures and colours

Hi coronach,

It's taken me a while, but I'm now up to date with your thread. I really enjoyed following your progress, and I think you have recreated scenery that is very natural looking. I will follow with interest!

Ps, the 2D stuff is very good too. Keep sharing please!
