Here are a few pictures from a cold loft this morning. At least the cold is a realistic representation of the Scottish borders in November ! The new D30 has been run for the first time since completion. Adhesion is a bit lacking but I hope a bit of oil on the bearings will help. I will struggle to get more weight in though. I will be happy if it can pull three non-corridor coaches up the gradient as well as down....... !

A D30 from Hawick shed passes the remote signal box at Whitrope Siding with a passenger train on a cold November day. Hopefully the steam heating is working correctly in the three Thompson and Gresley non-corridor coaches.post-11545-0-12443100-1511699386_thumb.jpg

A2 Pacific 60534 Irish Elegance starts away from Slitrigg on the climb towards Whitrope summit and Whinburgh with a stopping passenger train, typical of the Waverley Route in the early 1960s.

Ex North British Railway D30 62440 Wandering Willie, scampers up the gradient with a short van train. This PDK kit was a satisfying build and, now that I have added some more lead weight, it runs a treat. The Highlevel gear set is silent

A busy moment indeed. Sulzer type 2 D5302 approaches on a short fitted freight whilst passenger trains occupy both of the other platforms. A B1 waits patiently in the down refuge siding for a clear path.

The first stage of the scenery detail. A covering of acrylic paint, generously sprinkled with various clocks and Woodland Scenics stuff. This is then saturated in diluted PVA to fix and then more stuff will be added whilst still wet to create depth.

Afterwards, I will work on the rocky outcrops...
