OldNick
Edited to add, Old Nick, I found a cash machine; closest was in the outskirts of Coventry! Apparently, there was one on site but it got ram-raided twice so they got rid of it. Thank's for that - I ended up sending one person looking for one the other direction - to Kenilworth. exet1095
I went on Saturday, along with my young daughter. She and I both enjoyed our visit. A very well-run exhibition, with good stewarding and interesting layouts. Enjoyed the trade suport too, and got a couple of bargain coaches to rebuild, along with some Comet sides. Also had a good chat with Pete Waterman and learned about Collett welded 4,000 gallon tenders. My ony gripe is that they stopped selling bacon rolls at 11am! Will definitely go again, thanks for putting on a good show to all the members of L&WMRS.
chrisf
I paid my first visit to this show on Sunday. It could be interesting to compare the venue with Stafford as both are held at agricultural showgrounds. There were plenty of good layouts. Homegrown layout Walford Town has not been shown for absolutely ages, unless you know different. It features a pub based on the Saracens Head in Bedford and I reckon the model is in far better nick than the prototype! Calderwood, representing the L&Y circa 1910, caught my eye, as did Poole in Wharfedale. Both are set in Yorkshire so watch out, Dewsbury Midland, you don't have the territory to yourself. Highbury Colliery recovered quickly from a necessary electrical repair where needless to say the power socket for the soldering irn was at the opposite end of the layout to where it would have been best. St Merryn represented P4 at its finest while Abbey Road had something missing, namely regular operator Jon Hall [sorry to hear about the car Jon]. Inevitably some layouts interested me more than others but wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same things! Also inevitably there was much nattering to be done, which is what happens when you get so many RMwebbers in one place, some expectedly and others less so. Josh993 had been surgically removed from Potterbourne and appeared to be enjoying himself on the Hornby Mag stand with Mr Muz. This time it was the booksellers who enticed the moths from my wallet. Other merchandise was available but I chose to leave nearly all of it where it lay. I prefer not to pay £1.70 for a cup of tea but that, I fear, is the way of the world. Verdict: very favourable first impression, good venue, easy to find and closer to home than I thought - only 1 hour 20 minutes. I hope to return. Heruss
My ony gripe is that they stopped selling bacon rolls at 11am! Will definitely go again, thanks for putting on a good show to all the members of L&WMRS. You do realise that they started selling even more delicious Roast Pork Cobs after that? Complete with stuffing and cracklin. They were amazing.

Guest baldrick25
Can I just add a shot to those above , of Abbey Road, with the 'streamline' stock... Extremely well done layout - fascinating to see as well that it was driven like real underground stock- like a 'bat out of hell from a standing start'. Kelly
Went along on the Saturday with Natalie. We both enjoyed the show a lot. Although I wasn't in the best of shapes after a horrid night of insomnia, and needing lots of sugar and tea to keep me awake! But well worth the visit I felt. Natalie took some photos too, which I'll clean up and upload sometime. Glad I went! We also went along to LWMRS's open day and enjoyed that too.
