I've received the following note from the LWMRS exhibition manager and thought it was worth posting below.

Hi everyone,

I have just received my latest Scalefour News and noticed, in the events diary entry for our exhibition, that it states both Midland Sidings and St Myrren are attending our event.

Unfortunately this is an error as Midland Sidings is not attending this time.

As you might guess I have spoken to the Midland Sidings guy and he is also surprised at the entry (thankfully!!!)

St Myrren is most definitely attending as per my original post.

Regards to all

Dave Hewett

Morgan, Paul and myself, all RMweb members will be manning the Scalefour Society stand at this show so why not come along and have a chat - we are a very helpful bunch.

You will also get the opportunity to see the roundhouse from my Bristol Barrow Road P4 layout - see my blog - and speak first hand to my colleagues who have had a big input into this layout. You will be able to discuss, amongst other topics, the building of the layout, research, locos and rolling stock, trackwork including templot and even the use of CAD for desing work.

We hope to see some of you at the show.

Robin

As Jerry pointed out a couple of weeks ago Highbury is going to be at the exhibition, and as David, the exhibition manager, hasn't given me any other changes to the layouts listed in that time it seems like a good time to post the list of layouts expected.

Apologies to all who had difficulty reaching our exhibition details on the LWMRS website on 21st December. A short-term hosting problem caused by our hosting company changing hands was resolved within the day.

Latests news from the exhibition is that the colour guide to the show, included (while stocks last) in the admission charge has arrived, and looks magnificent. It includes a full floorplan, colour coded to show layours, trade stands, and other exhibits quickly, as well as a good number of other colour illustrations.

For those exhibiting at the exhibition, entertainment for the Saturday night has been organised, at a new venue this year. We look forward to seeing you all there!

I'm planning to be there on one of the days, probably with family in tow. I discovered this exhibition in 2010 - this will be my third visit - after moving to the area, and I have to say that I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. It's got pretty much everything that makes for a good exhibition experience: A good (and varied) selection of quality layouts, plenty of trade support and a venue that a lot of clubs would kill for - a spacious, well-lit dedicated exhibition hall with professional catering (at a reasonable price!) and plenty of free parking. What's not to like?

With only just over a couple of weeks to go to the exhibition (Jan 21-22), I wandered down to the clubhouse this afternoon, expecting to quietly get on with some work on a cardboard loco shed, and instead found it busy with the club's Duxbury team, working on finishing off details before the layout makes it's first appearance in three years. All sports of 'homework projects have clearly been finished recently and it's looking like an exhibition layout.

So, a few photos of the progress....

Also up, and looking good is the club's Walford Town EM gauge layout, set 1984-1989. It's odd to think that when built the station's Network SouthEast livery was contemporary - now it's 18 years on since it started to be replaced, but still looks very familiar.

Now had time to look at the trade support and I'm pleased to see that Squires Tools are back on the road and at the show. I missed their stand at Warley and couldn't stock up on those bits and pieces for the spares box. I'll have to get a list together to make sure that I pick up all I need at this show.

Latest news on the exhibition. The Secondhand Stall manager has managed to sort out card processing facilities, so we will be able accept credit and debit card purchases on the second hand stall. Having seen quite how much stock he's been pricing up that could be a good thing!

I think I need a big bottle of midnight oil to burn if I'm to get my new Class 25 built for Flockburgh. That's the trouble with 3mm scale - everything takes at least twice as long as I seem to think it will. Still, with 3 diesels on the layout, we will be nearer where I want to be in terms of rolling stock.

Hopefully, it will be in some sort of runable state for you to see at the weekend. Time to swap keyboard for workbench !

The exhibition will be held at Hall 1, Stoneleigh Park Exhibition & Conference Centre

The venue is on the B4113 in rural Warwickshire, a few miles south of Coventry and very close to the A46.

If travelling by car, the venue is well signposted from all local main roads as the National Agricultural Centre, or the N.A.C.

post-1931-0-64191100-1326791713.gifpost-1931-0-54471400-1326791728.gif

We will not be providing our own signs in addition.

If you are using a satnav to find the venue, use CV8 2LG as the postcode.

Once you arrive at the venue, black and white signs will diorect you to the nearest car parking to the exhibition hall. It is quite a long walk down the main drive through the centre from the front gate. so please follow the signs. Centre staff will ensure that you are directed to the closest available parking.

The 539 bus service serves the National Agricultural Centre on Saturday only.

Buses are available to the venue from Coventry - leaving Coventry Pool Meadow at 0820, 1015, 1215, & 1405, picking up at the Railway Station Bridge (by the Rocket pub), eight minutes later, and arriving at the NAC after a further 20-25 minutes. The buses go on to and return from Kenilworth,

Return buses from the NAC to Coventry leave at 12:05, 14:05 & 17:15

Train services are to Coventry or Leamington Spa. Coventry is slightly closer and has a bus connection, Taxis are available from both stations,

We've heard today that due to illness Phoenix Precision Paints will be unable to attend our show this weekend. We wish them well, and look forward to seeing them again in the future.

By my count that still leaves us with something like 34 traders and over 75 stands in total.

I was looing at the public transport options last night, and concluded that whilst I could get the train fairly easily (and remarakably cheaply) from London, I wasn't prepared to risk the bus with its limited frequency, and an unknown number of other visitors possibly also leaving on the last bus.

I think you really ought to consider hiring a vintage bus to work a shuttle service to a rail head, lots of smaller shows manage it.

Jon
