Quote from Your Website:

"The National Festival of Railway Modelling is the East of England’s premier railway modelling event and marks the start of the railway modelling season."

I suspect there will be a few organisers of Shows in September/October rather distressed to find you've cancelled their events...

Good spot, PLD. Maybe Warners need to re-consider the 'message'. In the days of the MRC Central Hall annual bash (aka 'The Model Railway Show'), the origin of its Easter week timing was to signify the end of the modelling season, the idea being to show the results of all the efforts over the long dark evenings. The past is a foreign country.

Looking forward to showing my TT gauge layout Thorpe Road.

Bit of a step back in time as the layout has been built to show a typical TT layout of the 1960's. Only parts available pre 1970 have been used and the construction methods of the period used.

Hope you enjoy?

Hi, This sounds interesting, I will have to get my TT out of the cupboard and give it a run.

Have you got any photo's of Thorpe Road that you can post on here?

Just a little disappointed to find there was noo room for something in OO9, and still confused by how anything at the end of October can have the temerity to be marking the "start of the railway modelling season" when modelling is not exactly seasonal.

Still the rest of the layout line-up looks good even if the trade seems a bit lacking for what must be considered a major show. Am still trying to arrange a pass.

I was under the general impression that over the spring and summer many people lay off the modelling a bit to do various other things that the better weather can allow and that activity does indeed begin to pick up as the nights start to draw in.

Either way its not the end of the world is it no matter what BRMs legend says ?

  • RMweb Premium

I've just noticed that the Exhibition advert on the RMweb home page seems to include a mistake, referring to "expert demonstations".

Now does this imply that the demonstrators are devilishly good, have horns and breathe fire or are we all in for a hell of a time?

Sorry, just my impish sense of humour!! Lol. :jester:

Looking forward to this one now - we're there with RS Tower, hopefully providing you with plenty of North American 'big train' action. :)

One quick change to the guide to warn viewers of, due to a change in the crew helping us we will now be showing off 1960s/70s railroading and not modern US railroading as described - on the upside that means plenty of mega-machines like DD40Xs and U50s from Union Pacific's large loco policy era should feature strongly!

Hi All

Upsan Downs is now packed and ready for an early start tomorrow morning from North Wales. Come and see us as the layout will only be going to two more shows,(Heywood and York, at Easter).Owing to health issues we have taken the hard decision to stop exhibiting our layouts, after fufilling our obligations to the shows that we are already booked to appear at. I would like to thank all the EM's

that thought that we were suitable for their respective shows.I would also like to thank the people who came over for a chat etc, for their comments and encouragement. After the York show the layout and stock will be sold as we only live in a small cottage.

So come and say Hello as it will be the last that we will be over that way.

Regards

Joan and George
