Hi Everyone,

Its not all that long until the Ayr show in September and just thought I'd let you all know that this will be the first show that Rannoch will be appearing at. My lack of updates in my layout thread have been mainly down to getting on with the layout but it will be ready in time for the show. My thanks to Stephen for inviting me along and for the encouragement to get the layout ready for exhibiting. The DEMU area group/Scottish Modellers will be operating the layout over the weekend so please come along and say hello.

The Ayr group are a very friendly bunch and the show has a nice relaxed atmosphere and is well worth a visit if you have not been before. Not only that along with Rannoch there are several new layouts appearing for the first time.

I hope to see you all there in September

Here are a couple of progress shots of the layout

Using my incredible powers of forward planning, I have booked a short break in Grantown on Spey that same weekend

and I would really have liked to see Rannoch.

Merde!!!!

Ah well, there's always next year.

The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point is also making its debut at Ayr and I also thank Stephen and the Ayr Gang for the invite. I am not as far on as Mark in terms of immediate finishing but I am getting there and have tried to keep my postings up to date for those that are interested. While also a member of DEMU most of my assistance for operating will come from my club members - The Glasgow & West of Scotland MRC.

I am sure those in attendance will recognise the layout (there will still be some work in progress beyond the show) and please take the time to say hello.

Max Fowler

Hello

Another trader has been added to the show "The Kyle Sign Company" who specialise in high quality plastic railway signs and transfers for model railways, trucks etc.

Some of you may have seen the high quality Network Rail Transfers done for Mark Darragh in an earlier posting on this forum.

Hello all

Unfortunately due to ill health "Bobby Glass" is unable to attend our show this year. I'm sure all the people who know Bobby, will wish him a speedy recovery.

I have at last managed to get some pictures of our new layout "Perceton" Which will be making its debut at this years show. Apologies for the quality as they were taken on a mobile phone.

Stephen

Hi All

That's all the layouts and traders set up.

The layouts are excellent. Rannoch Moor is stunning, as is Hunterston and also Maxwell loading point. The traders have a lot of interesting things for sale. Cheltenham has Howes sound fitted class 22s and 85s. Pooleys Puffers has the new Dapol Network rail wagons. Saltire Models has promised to bring a box of sound locos and also spare locos bodies.

So lots to see and buy. See you tomorrow.

Stephen

Hi all,

Scottish Modellers/DEMU will be providing a demonstration stand at the show.

Amongst other things we will be doing Decoder Pro workshop/set up on our stand.

That's in addition to other things of course!

Road vehicles, Weathering, Wagonry etc....

You know how we like to through it all in the mixer and see what comes out!

See you at the show.....

Thanks

Hi,

Just got back from the ' Ayr ' show - congrat's to Stephen and his crew for putting together a great show. Some really nice layouts :imsohappy: . My favourites - Hazelbank from the 'Wee county' what a transformation! The attention to detail on Mark Darragh's 'Rannoch Moor' was stunning! - especially the station building. If I wasn't painting my front hall - I would be back tomorrow.

Bill.

Congratulations to all of you making debuts today - know some were having teething problems but they weren't readily apparent from what I could see.

Max was drawing a fair old crowd while loading his MGRs this morning, and Mark's Rannoch Moor is really a gem to behold.

Worth a visit folks.

Well that's the show over for another year. Thank you to all the traders and exhibitors for puting on a great show. All five new layouts performed perfectly. I hope everybody enjoyed themselves and we'll hopefully see you again next year.

Hopefully they're will be plenty of postings and photographs to follow.

Hi all,

Yes - another great show from the Ayr organising team.

So many new layouts you could have thrown a dart blindfolded and still hit one!

Photos to follow shortly in the appropriate treads.

General posting of photos on my Photobucket site asap

http://s110.photobucket.com/albums/n100/Scottish-Modeller/

Then look for the Ayr 2012 Exhibition folder.

Should get you started once the upload is completed.

Lots of other Scottish show stuff on that site as well.

Thanks

Can I thank Stephen of Ayr MRG for the invite to the show for the Maxwell Colliery Loading Point. A good time was had by all and the layout worked well given it had never been put together as one prior to the show.

It was back home and stored up by 6 20pm given I only stay some 5 minutes from the show venue. While Phil has shown a couple of shots of it I will post more tomorrow as I am off work for the day. Some of the DEMU/Scottish Modellers team had a go at filling the trains - it was that easy!!! Thanks also to my colleagues from the Glasgow and West of Scotland MRC for their assistance in operating the layout over the weekend and on set up etc.

Max
